So his hatred of President Obama is stronger than his faith.

heh.

I personally can't wait for Free Republic to hit the Final Stage.

The funny part will be that their fervent Acceptance stage will occur simultaneously as they come full circle back to Denial that the other four stages ever happened.

Watching the far right swallow their bile as they line up obediently behind Romney the librul heretic?

That's the only reason I am paying attention to the election anymore. I don't really care who wins.

Its nice to see someone selling out their faith in return for a shot at political power. it actually reaffirms my faith in mankind.

So he's going with Rmoney the cult member over Obama the christian? I bet his faith racism helped him make that decision.

Yeah, I know, I'm the racist for making that observation.

I don't see how anyone could vote for either of two clearly anti-Christian candidates. I know that I'd rather stay home in November than choose between two evils. Someone should tell the folks at FR that.

they will sell out their faith and make a mockery of their religion because to these people (i.e. heretics) their faith is simply another commodity to be traded on the open market. Remember what I said when Santorum bailed on the race? all the folks who said they'd never vote for Romney would quickly change their minds and switch their support behind him. that's what this is - pastors selling out their faith to gain political power and doing so openly.

That's because Mitt Romney is more Jesus than the Muslim, Kenyan Fartbongo.

I wish I lived in a country where we didn't require a religious test in order to hold public office. Religions do nothing but divide and destroy communities and countries.

I just wish people would stop considering religion as a key value for a candidate.

Falling in line as predicted by just about anyone who knows anything about American Partisan politics...

And when he loses in November, they'll be back to screaming for a "real conservative" and how they didn't win because "Romney was too moderate!!!!".

well, this is going to be a very shaky coalition. the evangelicals *really* don't like Romney or the mormons, but their political situation demands that they play nice with one another if they want a shot at taking on Obama. Despite the public facade though, you can be sure that they're all looking for an opportunity to back stab one another.

meanwhile, Obama doesn't have have a campaign team that's fractured by internal religious feuds and has been taking notes during this primary race to see what's worked and what hasn't.

A conservative pastor forced to tell his flock not to vote for the Christian candidate. The irony is delicious.

It's all very simple--people like this choose who to endorse based on a very simple scoring system:

White: +20
Black: -100
Brown: -20
Christian (non-Catholic variety): +20
Christian (Catholic variety): +5
Mormon: -10
Muslim: -50
Atheist: -100
Straight: 0 (no points because it's just normal and the way everyone is supposed to be)
"Homosexual lifestyle choice": -100

Mittens scores a total +10 points, Fartbongo scores either -80 or -150, depending on whether they believe he's a Christian or a Muslim. Easy decision, really.

Oh come on now. Gayness should at least be -200.

DamnYankees: I dont understand why I'm supposed to care about any of this.

Kind of a symptom of just how crazy the politics on the right is in the country right now. Maybe like knowing the weather forecast includes thunderstorms?

Weaver95: I just wish people would stop considering religion as a key value for a candidate.

Unfortunately, the "no religious test" clause only applies to the government, not to the people voting for the government.

Weaver95: Despite the public facade though, you can be sure that they're all looking for an opportunity to back stab one another.

And there should probably be some liberals looking for opportunities to point out and hand over a knife.

So, basically... "Romney may be a member of a competing cult, but at least he doesn't like gay people!"

Can we start taxing churches now?

Weaver95: meanwhile, Obama doesn't have have a campaign team that's fractured by internal religious feuds and has been taking notes during this primary race to see what's worked and what hasn't.

I think the Liberal media is free to zone in on the epic backpedaling going on in the GOP regarding Romney, but the Obama campaign has to leave those alone; particularly any anti-Mormon rants Evangelicals may have thrown out there. If the campaign were to use these in their ads, I believe the perceived message is that they're validating anti-Mormon sentiments. I don't think they'd gain much by employing this tactic, particularly when Obama has taken so much flak over distortions of his own religious faith.
