I guess I'm glad subby forewent the traditional "with 'you'd hit it' photo" meme, but I clicked the article on the off chance that such a photo might have been there. I must say I would definitely not hit that.

"Uhh, you mind sterilizing that thing before you wand me?"

- the guy next in line

2012-04-18 01:21:10 PM
Heh, people accusing this guy of making worse delay than actual terrorists, and saying "just submit". I'd be pissed if I were next in line, but honestly if nobody stood up to this treatment the powers what be would likely take it as carte blanche to move to the next level.

Good for him.

The very existence of the TSA is harassment. Fu*king cock-weasels.

Thread perfectly fine without pics.

Ehhh they tell you to show up at the airport 2 hours before your scheduled flight. Nowadays you can get through all that crap (provided you already have a ticket) within 30 minutes. I don't see a problem with this kind of protest and would find it quite funny if I were there.

Now granted I would hope for better eye candy that what's in TFA.

2012-04-18 03:12:00 PM
I applaud this guy's chootspah (Bachmannese for guts), but I would have hated to be behind him, and not just because of the delay.

2012-04-18 03:13:22 PM
Why is it that the people you never want to see naked in a situation like this are the ones that can't wait to take their clothes off?

Also, I wonder if they lifted up that flab of back fat to check for bombs. Or Ho Ho's.

good for him, for the good it will do.

/kinda shocked by how many people seem more upset by his "stunt" than by how much the TSA sucks.

2012-04-18 03:15:54 PM
now the TSA is checking buses (city and long distance) boat terminals trains and truckers, Amtrak tossed them out yea for amtrak

But I read on Fark awhile back that it does.

IIRC - the weirdest part of this picture is not that she is not a Real Doll, it's that she's a lawyer or doctor or something like that.

"No, I have a problem with your naked body".

Elandriel:

I'd be pissed if I were next in line

I'd simply insist to TSA that they work around him. If they refused then they'd be the ones holding up the line, and I'd biatch about that.

After that a lot would depend on whether my ticket was refundable: I might even "crack a smile" and insist on a cavity search. "But how else will you know I'm not carrying a plasic cigar tube bomb?"

but honestly if nobody stood up to this treatment the powers what be would likely take it as carte blanche to move to the next level.

You're about 11 years behind the times, compadre. Here in the USofA everybody loves Big Brother (except maybe when he's black).

The indecent exposure charge should be thrown out on First Amendment grounds since this particular display of nudity can reasonably be seen as a contextually relevant demonstration against the invasiveness TSA screening. He's likely not doing it for sexual gratification of himself or anybody else.

2012-04-18 03:33:14 PM
What a douchebag: "here let me inconvenience everyone around me for a useless political gesture". I know a guy who was late for his flight courtesy of this jagoff. But it's PDX so I'm not really shocked a moron would be so selfish and rail against the minimum wage representation of the government. I long for the days when only a higher class of people could fly.

2012-04-18 03:38:01 PM
Disorderly conduct, maybe. But he can't get convicted of indecent exposure in Oregon unless there was sexual intent. I'm betting there wasn't a person in the vicinity who was aroused by this display.

2012-04-18 03:40:50 PM
All TSA has to do is take the protestor aside and say "Next in line!"

A guy who does such a thing has to know ahead of time he might well miss his flight, and I doubt he's doing it to inconvenience the rest of us poor slobs. Work around him, he won't be insulted.

Damn the Man.

A 2 minute video clip to show 2 blurred out and very grainy slides of "America's Most Unwanted Man" - good job local news channel.

Airports controlled by TSA are under Federal jurisdiction. Were the people who took pictures of the incident charged with taking photographs in a restricted area?

others stepped out of the screening lanes to look, laugh and take photos of Mr. Brennan," the police report said.

IANAL But I believe he's a subject of Federal Law more than Oregon state law.

He made a typo verbally? I'm struggling with the use of (sic) in the article.

May 17, 1969. Civil Rights protesters cease demonstrations. King, Martin L. stated at a local charity function, "Civil disobedience has caused too many inconveniences to those incidental to our plight. The cost of freedom has become too high. We have overstepped the bounds of society."

The TSA likes it better when you fight it (but secretly want it - oh, yessssss).

Natas6.0, they already have. They set up a VIPR/VIPER station in an Amtrak station and were searching people who were getting off the train. The local Amtrak people shooed them away.

That doesn't sound like it would be a constitutional charge. Photography is a First Amendment activity.

Ideal Newsflash 2012: Thousands of protesters descend on PDX to protest government invasion of privacy by TSA.

Actual Newsflash 2012: Some nutcase stripped naked in front of hundreds and made people late for their flights and accomplished nothing except for a possible stay in a mental hospital.

Just because some guy forgot his medication doesn't mean there is a new champion for the rights of the people.

I guess this dude is at least a step up from the idiot who always ends up in front of me and still somehow doesn't get that he's supposed to take his shoes off and remove his laptop from the bag. At least this guy knows he's holding up the line.

I see your point, but of course there are plenty of more passive ways to get your point across. Write your congressman a letter.
Of course, he doesn't care about your letter because the average voter doesn't know the difference between "concerned about safety" and "wasting time/money with pointless rules".
And of course that's why we say to just shut up and deal with it. You think it's wrong and you're right, but most people are stupid enough to disagree with you. So waddayagonnado?

If your congressman gets enough letters he might start to do the math.
But if he sees a handful of idiots getting naked in the TSA line, he's just going to dismiss them as assholes and move on.

The One True TheDavid: All TSA has to do is take the protestor aside and say "Next in line!"

That's assuming he actually goes willingly when they "take" him aside. I'm thinking of all those OWS protestors who claimed the first amendment protected their right to stand in the middle of the street at rush hour. Guy who wants to make a point about the costs vs benefits of security theater actually has more ground to argue that blocking the TSA line is free speech, in my unprofessional legal opinion.

2012-04-18 04:45:41 PM
But did they check his bag? How do they know those are just nuts? Maybe he has some M80s stuck in there? Beter probe with a stick and maybe even make him open his bag.
IS that what is meant by "take it to the next level"?

2012-04-18 04:56:59 PM
I'm all for protesting especially against facists like the TSA, but I have to ask if the man felt it was worth it to make his point at the cost of getting on the No Fly List and the Sexual Preditor List.

2012-04-18 05:01:03 PM
I'd rather it was Joe Francis and a "Girls Gone Wild" team, but this will work for a start.

2012-04-18 05:02:51 PM
Does the indecent exposure charge label him a sex offender for the rest of his life?

Cuz that would totally not be worth it.
