To be fair, I think they would have had the same amount without Manning. He may be better than Tebow, but I don't think he's a bigger draw.

2012-04-18 10:44:52 AM
Eh, three of those are Pittsburgh, New Orleans and San Diego, which are typical prime-time candidates anyway. And the game against Oakland is on NFL Network, which is kind of prime-time lite.

San Francisco got 5, too

/consolation prize for getting close last season?

no one would want to air a tebow-lead broncos team in prime time.

My only problem is games that are on CBS.

*Checks schedule*

Nothing I really care about. Ok.

Look at the description of the Browns season.

I'll be buying my Chiefs/Broncos tix @ Arrowhead the day they become available. Had a blast at the game last year, you Chiefs fans sure as hell know how to tailgate. That "Chiefs Beer" (v8+PBR) that they sell at the hotel across the bridge from the stadium is nasty as hell, though.

Looks like I'll actually get to watch 4 niners this year at least.

The NFL has at least three prime time games a week for 17 weeks. That's 51 games, 102 teams playing. On average, teams should play in at least 3. Considering that there are a few teams who no one wants to see, 5 prime-time games isn't some super huge number.

2012-04-18 12:13:30 PM
Considering he's one of the greatest QBs to play the game, coming back after a year off, on a new team which is already talked about extensively, I'm not very surprised by this.

I, for one, am looking forward to seeing the Peyton-led Broncos this year. Should be fun to watch.

Also looking forward to see him face off again against Brees and my Saints in Mile High stadium this season, since it didn't happen with the Colts last year.

Well, when he gets hurt the 2nd game of the season, you'll have a bunch of lame games remaining, like all those primetime games with the Colts last year.

Glad to see that ESPN is hopping on the "Screw those NoScript douches" train. It seems like their site has been going downhill quite a bit recently, but I'm sure purposely screwing with a decent portion of your visitors will be effective to combat that slide.

It is the maximum number of prime-time games allowed to any one team by league rules

The best part of that game was the Saints weren't trying to run up the score. They could have hit 100 if they wanted.

Are there any Pats MNF games this year? I can't wait to hear about THIS KID Danny Woodhead and how he's a REAL SCRAPPER!

Exactly what I was thinking. Of course the good news is that some channel can grab Peyton and Darren McFadden by week three to do pre-game studio work since McFadden's feet will likely have fallen off his legs by then.

Everyone gets a primetime game now, and they slyly gave the Dolphins and Bills theirs at the same time so the rest of America can make other plans that night without worrying that they're missing something exciting.

Not a Bears fan but Thursday night is only NFL Network. I'd recommend you head out to your local sports bar.

Does the NFL still have the provision that a team's home games must be shown on an "over-the-air" TV station if the game sells out? I know ESPN's games used to be broadcast on the local ABC affiliate here back when I was in my too-poor-for-basic-cable days, not sure if that holds true anymore.

If you're in the Chicago market, they typically simulcast the Thursday night games on either WCIU 26 or WPWR 50. Monday night games are simulcast by WLS 7.

Nothing quite as funny as a spinal injury. The only thing missing from that poster is a Saints maiming bounty -- good times.

I'm looking forward to seeing Manning play again. And I've reached the conclusion that even if the Colts go 16-0 next year, I don't think I'll go out of my way to watch them play -- Irsay sold their heart and soul.

Go Broncos! Well, not really, Go Manning (who happens to be on the Broncos)! -- there, that's better.

I don't think I've ever seen a stupider game plan to open up a game, offense or defense, than what the Colts put together for that week. Asking Curtis to run a no-huddle offense at the Super Dome with Brees waiting to take the field is dumber than a Morris Claiborne Wonderlic test. That game was way worse than the Jags game in 2006 where they ran for 375 yards.
With that plan, even Manning wouldn't have been able to make it much closer than 62-21.

Yeah. I didn't know that until they dumped him. I've been a pretty solid Colts fan since they moved to Indy (I grew up in Indiana) -- but back then, there seemed to be some fun enjoyment in our players. Harbaugh wasn't that great, but dammit, he was ours. I yelled myself horse cheering the old Colts on. But this entire bullshiat with dumping every player that meant anything to the team and the fans -- I just can't get behind it.

Weirdly enough, I wouldn't have missed a game or questioned my enjoyment of the game if Manning went 4-12 with the Colts next year. I guess I always assumed that the team was made up of the players -- if you support the players, you're essentially supporting the team.

But Irsay did a fantastic job showing me that isn't so. I'm just not one to support a symbol and to tell the players to fark off. Along the same vein, I feel the same about companies -- it should be about their employees. If you shiat all over your employees, I will no longer support your product.
