A new strategy for legalizing marijuana? Create something worse and market marijuana as the safe alternative?

Wait, theres a drug more dangerous than pot? Pfft, ill believe that when i see it. It makes minorities burn paper mills and rape white babies while listening to jazz, i mean heroin users just kinda lie there.

To hide the fact that you're a shiatty cameraman.

I'm pretty sure synthetic weed in LA is as hard to get legally as Barack Obama's electoral college votes.

FTA: "If we would simply allow adults to use marijuana in a regulated, controlled framework, the market for these potentially dangerous synthetic substances would vanish overnight and there would be no one left to sell them to teens."

Won't someone think of the prisons!?

The sets of "states that have passed legislation" and "states that are considering legislation" are not mutually exclusive. As opposed to Farkers and conservatives, say.

Another giant signpost along the road, announcing yet again that the drug war is a absolute failure. Unless of course you own a prison, then its totally awesome.

Where are the conservatives yelling to stop this giant waste of money? Oh that's right, they own all the prisons.

Well it looks like the sensible thing to do is legalize the real thing
and make it illegal for employers to test for it.

Dewey Cox: You know what, I don't want no hangover. I can't get no hangover.
Sam: It doesn't give you a hangover!
Dewey Cox: Wha-I get addicted to it or something?
Sam: It's not habit-forming!
Dewey Cox: Oh, okay... well, I don't know... I don't want to overdose on it.
Sam: You can't OD on it!
Dewey Cox: It's not gonna make me wanna have sex, is it?
Sam: It makes sex even better!
Dewey Cox: Sounds kind of expensive.
Sam: It's the cheapest drug there is.
Dewey Cox: [at a loss and out of excuses] Hmm.
Sam: You don't want it!
Dewey Cox: I think I kinda want it.
Sam: Okay, but just this once. Come on in.

"The sad thing is that many people use these substances because they are afraid of the criminal penalties for marijuana," says Morgan Fox, spokesman for the Marijuana Policy Project. "If we would simply allow adults to use marijuana in a regulated, controlled framework, the market for these potentially dangerous synthetic substances would vanish overnight and there would be no one left to sell them to teens."

How does allowing adults to legally use marijuana have any effect on teens at all? Teens still can't buy it or use it legally, regardless. Are they hoping synthetics will go out of business? Why would that happen? There are much worse drugs than marijuana that enjoy sizable followings because they have much more amplified effects. If the synthetic provides a stronger high, then there are people that will buy it.

Think of the children.

2012-04-18 10:22:32 AM
Missouri ultimately outlawed this stuff - but, before they did, I tried it twice. The first time I hated it with a passion but wrote if off thinking it had been years since I had smoked pot and just didn't remember the feeling. The second time I pretty much sat around paranoid for 3 hours wishing like hell the high would go away. This crap is not pot, not even close. I still long for the old days of 1979 when we sat around and passed a fat one before school (I had straight A's). Until it's legal, I'll keep wishing. After all, I'm too pretty for prison. I won't be bubba's biatch just to get high.

If your kids are smoking pot, you're probably a lousy parent, anyway.

To get back to 50 states, I propose we remove the following:

- Texas
- Florida
- Arizona
- South Carolina
- Tennessee
- Alabama
- Oklahoma

It's probably not good that I don't think this list is enough.

2012-04-18 10:25:08 AM
Some teens have coined the term "couch lock" to describe one effect - an inability to move despite being conscious.

uh... no... that is a weed term to describe the effects of an indica heavy smoke, been around long before this synthetic garbage.

2012-04-18 10:26:41 AM
He mis-spoke, instead of saying states, he wanted to say primaries. There are 57 primaries I believe. A fact most morans don't even know.

I get the funny, subby, but there is nothing about the way that is written that leads to a logical conclusion that there are 57 states.

As of March 2011, 20 states had imposed bans and additional legislation is pending in 37 states, Professor Burke says.

States with bans could be imposing additional penalties for manufacture, for example, and there can be states with no bans and no pending legislation. All we know about the number of states is that there are at least 37.

Finally! A "top worst states list" from which mine is excluded! Granted, it's a random comment in a thread and not an article, but I'll take it.

We're usually number one on these things.

Hey, you take New York, you have to take L.A., because 1/3 of the population of either is visiting the other on business at any given time.
