LectertheChef: evoke: Did the Secret Service investigate the dixie chicks when they made their treasonous comments? Probably not....

I don't remember the Dixie Chicks saying anything treasonous or threatening, all they did was speak out against the President. There was no treason, no sedition, no violent rhetoric. Yet you try to equate Nugent's psychotic tirade with the Dixie Chicks saying they were embarrassed to be from the same state as Bush?

You see, when it's a Republican in office it is absolutely required that you show "the office" the utmost respect or you are a traitor. When it is a democrat in office, F*ck that guy and his shiatty office, that piece of shiat. it's simple really. All you have to do is be a selfish, stupid, short-sighted, hycoritical asshole. See Evoke for instructions.

SkinnyHead: If the Secret Service really took this as a serious threat (which is highly unlikely), they should investigate in private. There is no need to make a public statement. The only reason to make a public statement is to lend credence to the partisan offensive launched by Obama and the DNC, and to intimidate political opponents of the president.

Please show where the Secret Service made a public statement about any investigation.

Note the vagueness: "We are aware of them and we are conducting the appropriate follow-up now," Secret Service spokesman George Ogilvie told ABC News.

"Appropriate follow-up" could be posting on Fark to ridicule the pantshiatter. It's the chickenhawk pantshiatter who is talking about an upcoming interview with the Secret Service.

It's payback for Hillary Rosen. Which doesn't make it any less petty, but there's some rationale for it. Of course Romney wouldn't agree with such sentiments.

It's a surrogate tard fight over how strenuously each campaign denounce their own surrogates. Very meta(stupid).

You know, it's a funny thing - when skookum was exposed as whidbey's alt, he quit using the skookum account within a few days. elchip/SkinnyHead, on the other hand, appears to have stopped using the elchip account. It's like he's doing a Super Dave Osborne - devoting his entire life to the portrayal of this one character.

I am fascinated by the idea of people using alts. It's like they actually know that they're factually wrong about everything, but they still have to self-validate their convictions by creating a whole new personality. It's just so unbelievably pathetic.

Question though - how did Skinnyhead/elchip get caught?

Ted Nugent will meet with the Secret Service on Thursday as a result of incendiary comments he made about the president, the rocker told conservative radio host Glenn Beck.

####

Says OPENLY LIBERAL Web sink-hole Politico.

Labeling conservatives again, earns them a similar prefix set of adjectives.

Additionally, Nugent was quite clear in his meaning. There was nothing incendiary, not to mention threatening to the Kenyan In Chief about them.

SS just puffing up their importance again.

Xythero: Tying these specific statements to him is petty. I have a hard time believing Romney supports threats on the president.

Now now, don't be coy. You and I both know the truth of the matter. The GOP and the party faithful have told us over and over, again and again: If you do not explicitly condemn it, you support it. How could you have possibly forgotten? We've seen so many examples of this rule in the past, it's not new or obscure. The rightwing live by it and it's an unimpeachable standard of our political discourse.

2012-04-18 02:38:15 PM
WhoIsWillo: SkinnyHead: I watched the video of Nugent's speech. I didn't hear any true threats to the "President's life."

Well, he said if Barack Obama was elected, Nugent would either be in jail or dead. That statement, without clarification (which he did not offer) was that he would take some sort of action against the President. Like it or not, a reasonable person could read the statement that way. So the Secret Service investigates that threat. Barack Obama could specifically order the Secret Service not to investigate the threat, and they still would. It's protocol. Any threat, veiled, implied or direct is investigated.

Well, the statement could be taken to mean that either Nugent would take action that would cause himself to be dead or in jail, or that action would be taken against Nugent so that he'd either be dead or in jail.

I personally interpreted it as the second - HOWEVER, the SS is doing their job in investigating it, as they have investigated any potential threat against the president for years. Similar things happened during the Bush years, the left got upset about it, and I said the same thing then as I'm saying now.

Most of these "investigations" seem to be about a fifteen minute phone call.

How is investigating a threat partisan?

Because there was no threat to investigate in the first place. The DNC and Obama campaign have launched a partisan offensive to try to portray what Nugent said as a threat so they can tar Romney with it. By making a public announcement that they are investigating Nugent (for something that is clearly not a threat), the Secret Service has abandoned the appearance of impartiality and has joined forces with the Obama campaign.

You're either a moron, a crazy person, or someone with far too much time on their hands.
