The best pizza.

Also.... yes, Chicagoans... you make a tasty casserole, but it's not a pizza.

As a New Yorker, it pains me to say that I actually think New Haven style pizza is better than New York pizza (with the possible exception of places like Grimaldi's).

No wood fired oven, no pizza.

So it is written, so it shall be done.

What do you drink with that? I'd recommend a nice 15 year old single malt scotch and mountain dew.

Why don't we just start covering it with chocolate while we're at it?

I wouldn't mind a Nobel, assuming it's for Peace; your pizza certainly wouldn't count as Medicine. Chocolate-covered pizza may work for some, but not me, so just give me a share of the prize money.

/The pizza in the article sounds good. I'll need to try it next time I'm in NYC.

I have a dream that New York style and Chicago style pizza will one day be made in a nation where they will not be judged by the thickness of their dough but by the quality of their ingredients!

(Apologies to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.)

Meanwhile, if you are ever in Lansing, Michigan, this would be the place for "Lansing style" pizza:

The whole Chicago v. New York pizza argument twice per week is getting pretty boring. Can't you people compare gangsters or your shiatty standard of living or something else for a change?

THIS.

Just about to post this, glad someone beat me to it:

GodDAMN I miss it. Even the Buddy's/Detroit Style Equivalent places are pretty damn good, but Buddy's still rules over all and that's just how it goes.

Too bad most of the country is missing out on the awesomeness. Although there was a NPR segment about this guy trying to replicate it in a food truck in some different state. A long and arduous process.

If I ever get to East Michigan, I shall have to try it. For now, I'm on the opposite of the state, and my experience is with mid-Michigan pizza. (Also, it's ma'am.) There is room for both Buddy's and De Luca's, I'm sure... >.>

You know, I've actually had bad pizza. It was made by ARA Food Services, and it was like New York style, only made with plastic and cardboard instead of mozzarella and bread crust. They served it at Atlanta Hawks games and at a Georgia Tech campus horrorshow called the Hideout. People would start fights over who HAD to eat the last piece.

All other pizza is pretty good. Antico Forno (new window) in Boston is the best I've ever had, but there's an awful lot of good pizza out there.

Is it fried in duck fat? Because my g/f won't let me eat duck fat out of her arse, and I need a substitute.

See that crust? How it's awesome without being stupidly thick? And all crispy as heck from the pan? That's the sweet spot.

There has been Pizza made from deep fried dough in New York for over 15 years. There is an Israeli style Pizza Store in queens that sells an Israeli Pizza called Pizza Malawah, which has been around in Israel for over 50 years. This is nothing new.
