The basket has better range to the left.

He's moved on from Siena. By now he's probably hitting on a younger, better-looking college like Sarah Lawrence.

I have to ask... why the hell would a college try to invite an active baseball player to a graduation? They do know that baseball players play from April to at least October, right?

No one denies Jeter is a great player, but only a moron posts stats this early in the season to support an argument about a player. The moron, however, is at least smart enough to not post a player's offensive stats when arguing his defensive deficiencies.

To clarify, I'm not making a season-long projection based on these stats, but it IS noteworthy that Jeter already has 3 homers when he had SIX all of last year.

Man, it's too early in the season for this shiat. For example, you know who has a better record than the Yankees?

The Mariners. And the Mets, and the Astros, and the Nationals.

But hey, look at the bright side, at least CC wont lose to Brad farking Penny this year.

He'shiatting .231 with no extra base hits against teams that made the playoffs last year hasn't hit a home run in a park with a HR factor of less than 1.15.

On point, he has the worst range on shortstop of anyone to play it this year. He's also on course to have the worst UZR/150 ever, worse than Ryan Braun's legendary stint at 3rd as a rookie. Link (new window)

\Small samples can be manipulated in a lot of different ways.
\\That doesn't make Jeter a better fielder.

Bah.. I don't have the stomach to be a troll: I can't just fire, forget and walk away.

Posting the average was tongue-in-cheek knowing I'd get bites on it.
As explained above, I was serious about the homers and why I think it's significant. It's not that I think Jeter will be a slugger this year but on the whole, he looks good (so far) versus what the expectation for him was going into this season (ie, those concerned about his decline).

No, it really isn't. Nor is it significant or even remotely interesting; it's a blip. He also has ha the most at-bats (45, of 48 total PA) of any player with three or more home runs so far. George Kottaras has hit 3 homers in 11 ABs (out of 15 PA). Neither collection of numbers means a thing because of the-- say it with me, now-- small sample size. Jeter also has 21 groundouts, by far the most of any player with at least 3 home runs-- in fact, he's leading all of baseball in groundouts (2 ahead of Cano); big damn deal.

Those 3 home runs mean that Jeter will hit at least 3 home runs this year, and nothing more.

Come on now.
Jeter had 6 home runs for the entirety of the 2011 season.
That he's already halved that a month before he even got his first this time last year shows me he's doing something better (compared to last year). That's all I'm saying.

He does look really good. He's driving the ball to the right side again. Last year, he couldn't do that until July. He's faced a lot of lefties early on though, and that's weighing things in his favor
