Sgt Stubby: Funny as this is, the democrat-media complex is counting on the October release of the 'Obama got Osama' movie to put him over the top on election day - when the teaming masses again elect the smartest president in U.S. history. That, and the 'War on Women', racism, 'the 99%', Romney is 'too rich', the Republicans are going to take food out of childrens' mouths, Moochelle has muscles, etc.

Think any of that sh*t will work, libtards?

What about "the millions of Hispanics who will be voting all hate Romney"? You forgot that one.

Personally I think the Obama administration somehow engineered the entire Romney candidacy. It's like someone solved a bunch of differential equations to find the person with the least chance to beat Obama, but still be a plausible choice.

I've got a 360 with Kinect and play the hell out of it. It's still a new technology so the number of games for Kinect is kinda limited, but Fruit Ninja is awesome. It's like the app game, but you slice and chop with your whole body. It'll wear the hell out of you and your rugrats so they'll fall asleep very quickly after playing it. The fitness games are great too. GunStringer is another one I really liked on it.

Plus a lot of regular xbox games are coming with Kinect support (mainly voice commands) so you can yell stuff at your TV. Skyrim is integrating it so you can yell dragon shouts, give commands to your companions, and switch weapons/spells. Mass Effect 3 came with it and, while pushing buttons is easier, there's nothing like yelling "CARNAGE!" and watching your enemies turn into ludicrous gibs.

Honestly I really like it, still somewhat of a novelty, but the potential is there. And of course you have the regular 360 library plus all of the XBox live stuff. Only downside is it's not free, but $50 for a year isn't bad at all.

I bought all three when they first came out (360,Wii, PS3). Sold the Wii inside of 3 months. The PS3 started collecting dust after about a year. Still play the 360. (Although I may bust the PS3 back out for dust451 (new window)

In all honesty, it doesn't have to. The fact that the GOP fights so hard to keep the greedy rich investors paying a lower tax rate than the middle class for the favor of shipping jobs to China will. Big Oil keeps making record profits, as does Big Pharma. It's only "Class Warfare" when it's the little guys banding together to even it up a bit; it's never "Class Warfare" when it's all the sneaky policies and laws the greedy enact to take even more off the top.

Go ahead, GOP. I'm sure I'm not the only one you've lost over the past ten years. Keep it up.

I think before we flip out that we should first hear what the candidates positions are on instant respawns and random weapon placement.

Pretty much. If someone's so selfish and lazy that a game release will stop them from doing their civic duty, screw their vote.

BUT, I wouldn't say they're "less mature" than others who do vote (or less intelligent, or less lazy, or whatever). It's just that this is what it will take to get THIS group of knuckleheads to not go vote.

Meh, I grew up on PC games, but prefer the console.

It's a matter of taste really, opinion. Yes, the mouse is a more accurate means of control, more precise, whatever. But guess what, if everyone uses a mouse, there is no inherent "advantage" over a system where-in everyone uses a pad with analog sticks.

The "superior" argument is a non-issue(except as a descriptor for one's level of smugness).

In most FPS games, unless you're the type to not play heavily and instead walk around looking at textures, graphics, easter eggs, etc, even the image quality is mostly irrelevant. Things typically move too fast, and therefore slightly downgraded console presentation is not noticed heavily.

Sure, there are other pro's and con's, but that's just not representative of "better". Some people prefer the p2p system over ded servers. Why? The ability to play faceles thousands, instead of the same 50 tryhards, that tend to make their own "rules" and boot at whim, such as...wait for it..."no camping".

Now, I will go into detail on this "camping" thing. It is simple strategy, true, but still strategy. Sure, kick non-active players, but don't kick the guy who gets 10 kills and dies once, just because you prefer to play with the guy who gets 25 kills and dies 37 times.
Even at that, how can you tell if it's camping? Many times I was booted out of Halo PC lobbies for "camping". It's funny, because I was not camping in the least, we just happened to meet at the same corner, many times we'd both die even. Sometimes I'd reach that spot first, and go slightly past it, wait like two seconds to walk out, then shoot him from behind. Because I stopped for a couple of seconds on a guess that he was coming, I'm a dirty camper and get the boot.

Yeah, I much prefer console gamers, because, as a whole, they may gripe about play styles, but they don't have any control over what I do. PC gamers may be less offensive in general, but when they are, they're much bigger dicks about it.

But the other drawback of when you do find a good ded server, is that people get predictable. Snipe from X, shoot through object Y at 30 seconds after the match starts, you'll get a kill more often than not.
(Anyone who's played counterstrike should know what i'm talking about).

When you play on consoles, out of a pool of tens to hundreds of thousands, every other game is a surprise. Sure, you still get your predictable instances, but the popularity of them waxes and wanes, it's never reliable, due to simple statistics. You run into more random tactical choices that you have to adapt to on the fly. Sometimes that guy running out in the open with...a shotgun....gets a crap-ton of kills, because people think, "that'lll never happen".

When playing that many people, you've got to be prepared to counter a much larger set of strategies and choices.

When you play with the same 30 people, unless all of the people on that server really are superstars at switching it up(really not a common thing), gets old, and gets old fast to me.

I play for the competition and not the companionship. I won't fault you for doing different if that's what gets your rocks off.

As for the other pro's and cons.
Controllers are more comfortable, allow for much more variation in how and where you sit.
It's more portable and consistant. Consoles go a long way to being universal devices, as where PC's tend to require more cables, take up more space, and take a specific personalized knack if playing on someone elses machine.(mouse and keyboard alone).
I really dig the concept that where ever i go and there's an xbox, that the controller will probably be identical to the one I use at home, or so close that it does not matter much.
That helps when you have real life friends and family with the same hobby. it's also nice to be able to have guests and/or have 2-4 people on the same set of equipment.

*shrugs*
same arguments you've all heard before, but I had some time to kill

Aarontology: Rev.K: Doc Daneeka: Angry Birds

I don't think Angry Birds makes itself out to be anything more than what it is.

Halo, on the other hand, is constantly having its knob slobbed when it is a pretty mediocre FPS.

/but that's just my very unpopular opinion

Because it revolutionized the idea of an FPS on a console. Before Halo it was all shiatty ports of PC games. And because it's relatively simple and fun.

I'll take Halo over Medal of War Code of Duty 43 any day of the week. (Which would be the most overrated franchise in my opinion)

nest to Skyrim, anyway.

Same. Halo's much for fun than the COD games. They sacrifice fun for realism, which is OK in the campaign, but makes its multi-player a frantic mess involving mostly luck. Not fun.

I would say anyone that has trouble enough keeping their priorities in line such that a release date for a video game is given higher importance than voting is most definitely mentally immature. Especially considering one of those two events has a duration of less than a day but consequences long enough for two crappy sequels to be written. If you found some elderly that allowed themselves to be distracted from voting then you've either gone too far into the graduated scale of elderly or you have some immature elderly.

omeganuepsilon: {camping, consoles, pcs, and bears, oh my.

Most of my life I've been a PC gamer, but I don't think I've even turned my PC on (laptop for porn and email) in 8 months. Consoles are just easier. Plop a disc in and start playing. No install, no mandatory connection to the net to prove you own the game even after you put the CD key in. Can sell the game if it turns out to be crap (*ahem*, Racoon City). Plus without dedicated servers, there are none of the I AM GOD players who boot you for using certian weapons (such as having the audacity to use the AUG or dual Uzis in the Firearms mod for Half-life)

I remember playing 1942, and some guy was sniping from a barn just racking up kills. So I snuck up behind him watched him for a good 30 seconds, and knifed him. He then informed me I 'wasn't allowed to kill him". I figured he'd be right back, so I ducked behind a hay bale, and 10 seconds later he comes trotting back to the same spot and resumes sniping. I knife him again. I am told "I was warned about killing him" and was permantly banned from that server. What kind of 8 year old "I'm gonna take my ball and go home" immature shiat is that?

Though to be fair I have been kicked from a few 360 Left 4 Dead games for 'killing too many zombies and not letting us kill any" WTF? I guess the good thing about PCs is that mics are not as common and I don't have to listen to a 12 year old (who's loving parents bought their little snowflake a copy of Stripper Raper 4) tell me how he's gonna show up at my house and kick my ass and fark my mom.

So gotta ask.

Is it worth it to find a cheap used copy and play through the series on PC at some point? It seems like (as a person who got into gaming beyond 4 very specific games about a year ago) that there's a lot of FPS's that took cues from Halo, and that it was reasonably influential, for better and worse.

MythDragon: No install, no mandatory connection to the net to prove you own the game even after you put the CD key in. Can sell the game if it turns out to be crap (*ahem*, Racoon City).

The media industry as a whole is trying to change all that.
Supposedly, the next gen consoles will be doing just those things. No selling, mandatory net, etc.

As for Halo itself...
I've always like Halo's campaign.
IMO, Reach multiplayer jumped the shark with equipment built in. I liked Halo 3's pickup version much better. Didn't have as much pressure to use it because you spawn with nothing. Feels like we're being strongarmed into it with Reach.

I expect more of the same and worse from H4.

I also had a thing against the graphics. I mentioned up above how it doesn't matter, but the way some games handle them it can be off putting. If you played on a big map, or with 2 players on one box, players in the distance are too blurry, and then snap into the detailed versions when you got closer/zoomed in, but there was a huge delay, and at times, they had to be entirely too close for this, and on occasion, it never went away.

Kind of relative to suspension of disbelief, when you see graphics glitch like that staring you in the face, kinda ruins some immersion.

That they say Halo4 maxes out the XBOX, doesn't give me a lot of faith in this regard. soem game makers have a tendency to do that standing still, then when games get chaotic, they the system noticably bogs down. Game mechanics > the pretty.

As to game play, the unlocking of equipment and gear worries me. I liked Halo 3 and below because you could pick it up and play, nothing locked until you've played for Xxhundred hours.... I really dislike the way modern pick up and play games are requiring a MMO styled grind to get to some, if not all, equipment/features/content.
It's a very artificial way to get people to keep playing. You want faithful fans? Make a quality and balanced game. farking it up is a sure way to drive people away.
