Bad idea. Babies are better at wetting than drying.

"If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat."

Do you know what the unemployment rate among babies is? They have to take what they can get.

2012-04-17 01:32:18 PM
No, I use my infants for transport. I like to use the elderly for drying.

You use them to pick up chicks.

Baby is only 3 weeks old! The nursery was probably a drying room way before the little spud showed up. It's hard having to re-arrange everything. Maybe they didn't have the extra space for a non-pot kids room?!

To dry? No. However if you roll a baby's naked back over your marijuana you'll pick up a lot of the stems and seeds. Babies are great at separating.

Who knows if any of this is true? They can say whatever they want, and using a spare room is not the same as stringing up plants around a child's crib while they are in it.

Because we all know that simple proximity to a horticultural operation is hazardous to babies. Right?

They busted a grow house that someone happened to live in. The "zomg baby" angle is infuriatingly wrong-headed.

Maybe the pot was supposed to be there, and this was a baby grow operation. Anybody think of that?

They care about the environment, ok, maaannnn. They were probably just taking care of two problems at once. Those grow lights probably keep a baby nice and warm. So these aren't monsters, they are caring, green-minded parents.

Neighbor Monica Case was shocked to hear the child's room was used for drying marijuana. "I can't believe that. How could they do that to a baby? I have kids of my own. It's shocking," she said.

Sounds like somebody's been buying into the spooooky Reefer Madness propaganda. This just in: Moisture that evaporates from the evil weed Marihuana harms babies! It causes their arms to grow in spiral patterns and makes them want to listen to music made by black people!

The idiotic thing is, if it were any other plant, including safe, legal tobacco, no one would have a problem with it, except noting that it is indeed an odd place to dry plants.

How tongue in cheek! Obviously the kid was used as a fertilizer resource, not a drying agent.

The cops acted on a tip from the local diaper service and the local grocery store. No one was buying diapers for the kid.

Yes, but it makes great fodder for the war on drugs propaganda.

This.
The Mr and I don't aren't even smokers but we think this 'war' should end already.
I'll vote to send crackheads and tweakers to their own private island and that issue will be self correcting.

They should lock up the baby. At this point, it's all downhill for him. He's been influenced by the demon weed.

But that's from use, not being in the room with it. Did this 'marijuana' they found actually include psychoactive THC?

Actually, how's about a citation, buckwheat?

I've seen these raids on TV and they send in a full HAZMAT team with respirators, Tyvek suits, and the whole nine yards. These grow ops use things like nitrogen, air, H20 and other crazy stuff. Anyone in a two mile radius may be impaired for life.

Ignoring the obvious "cop math" regarding the "street value" of the plants, I must say that more and more I am encouraged by the reader comments on many of these articles.

It seems that many of the American people are not only becoming aware of, but are also finally starting to speak up about, the ridiculous nature of the "War on Cannabis consumers". It is becoming fairly rare to see comments about how "dangerous" Cannabis use is, and the rare commentators who do opine in such a manner often seem to be fairly obvious trolls.

It warms my heart to know that so many have begun to realize who the TRUE villains in this "war", are.

/RE-legalize it!

Big deal. When I was 8 or 9 my sister used my playroom to dry her weed. It was a small room off the side of the garage with a TV, a futon and all my little star wars action figures. My parents never ventured out there, so it was kind of ideal, and I was too busy watching tv, playing with my action figures and getting stoned to really care.

Poor reading comprehension. "with the child" clearly implies that the baby is part of the investigative team (and seeing as how it's Florida, probably the smartest one on it).

I'd be much more worried if it WAS tobacco. Nicotine is a pretty potent poison, and given the propensity for babies to put stuff in their mouths...

I know that the parents are from derpville, and should have been way more mindful of discression with their grow operation, but, would we be all outragy about the safety of the child if, for example, the couple had a home brew operation, and the baby was sleeping in the same room where home brewing supplies were kept?

Facts being facts and all, pot is far less harmful than alcohol, and unless the three week old were suddenly able to crawl over to where the stuff was stored, and open a zip lock, I don't see all of the big scary danger. Now, raising kids in a drug house were the illegality of the drug trade sparks violence, is stupid, but this could all be solved with a little legalization, now couldn't it?

Yeah! They need to crack down on the illegal cheese makers too.

On another note, does anybody have any stats on babies that have died due to exposure to The Devils Weed?

Do what? Have it in a room with weed? The baby was 3 weeks old! It's not like it was taking hits off a bong... 3 week old babies sleep, nurse, and poop... the only danger would have been some over-zealous DEA agent.

That's just it, man! Are you not appalled at the fact that if said agents had busted in and seen an infant coming right for them, possibly possessed by the Devil Weed, they would have been compeled to use all necessary force and Taze the little hophead within several inches of his life? Have you no decency?
