(Film School Rejects)   The creative minds behind Prometheus want you to meet David. Michael Fassbender seems to be a good choice, considering he pulled a Michelangelo's David with his last film and let it all hang out   (filmschoolrejects.com) divider line 70

Is he going to develop an Irish accent 2/3 of the way into the movie despite the fact that his character is not in any way Irish?

Even though this is technically a prequel to Alien, it's one of the few original looking sci-fi movies we're likely to get this year so I'm looking forward to it more than any movie this summer, even if it does get neutered with a PG-13 rating.

JAWS or POLTERGIEST weren't neutered & that was back in pre-PG13 era.

If there are no Chestbursers in the "non-alien" movie, I trust Ridley

Lol. Autocorrect says "chest ureters"

The PG-13 era started in 1984. Both of those were PGs back when they didn't pay as much attention to ratings. But I agree with what you're saying. I just want Scott to release the movie he wants released.

Then again, I really want this movie to do well because it could mean more original (and once again, I realize this is a prequel to Alien but it still looks pretty original) sci-fi movies to get made. Whatever they decide, I'll see it.

Whoever is behind these leaked clips is a farking genius. Just dolling out the perfect amount to entice me, but not enough to give anything away. This is going to be a great, great movie.

This character out-Neos Neo effortlessly. AWESOME.

jesus christ on a pogo stick farting into a kazoo he manages to make that SO BLOODY CREEPY.

there's just that subtle wrongness that he manages and he makes it look natural.

good god i can't wait for this movie.

This and Avengers are my go-to movies this summer for sheer entertainment value. Fassbender puts this over the top.

"If it's all the same to you, I'd like to go out speaking the King's..."

My exact quote on seeing this : HOLY JESUS SHIATBALLS!

Ridley's still got it. This would work for bladerunner too.

I'd meet him. I'd meet him over and over and over and over. I'd meet him so hard the Tunguska event would look like a cup of tea between two dowagers. Oh, how I'd meet him.

I think the creepiest part was that the video had an error right in the middle and quit when he started talking about things that make him sad.

It totally is in 3D and Scott is excited about it.

Well it's better than that TED teaser which had Guy Pearce doing his Chris Morris / Denholm Reynholm impression.

Quibbling about a vowel doesn't change the intent, but I do approve of your edit. I also approve of this.

yeah let's see here- 3d makes dark images even harder to see and it causes the edges of the screen to lose focus. This movie will be set in dark claustrophobic areas and have incredible amounts of detail all over the screen.

um, no thanks 3D. even before we get into the "3D makes me physically ill" issues, that's just an idiotic decision

Where can I pick up my MIchael Fassbender android? Sam's Club? I need the James McAvoy model too. Is it two for one or anything?

I like Fassbender. They should've made his hair white in XMen First Class.

I seriously dig it when you see him crying, then in the same breath, he utterly and coldly states that he cannot feel human emotion.

Magneto's accent traveled to more places standing still than I have in my entire life.

Still, that clip of David is fantastic. It's a hell of a performance when a Human actor can make you feel that you are knee deep in the uncanny valley.

This is why I only watch 3D movies on IMAX screens. The movies where the directors are genuinely interested in using 3D and not pressured by the studios or post-converted after shooting (Hugo, Avatar, Tin Tin) have turned out well enough to convince me that 3D has it's place beyond a gimmick. Prometheus looks to be another movie like this.

Yeah, but everyone was overshadowed by Christoph Waltz.

No pun intended, I wouldn't pun like that.

He'll be evil just for the simple narrative reason that the iconic Alien android was good.

Indeed. Pity that Walz's projects since then have been....disappointing.Case in point: The Green Hornet and the Woody Allen flick with Kate Winslet.

When you take his angular jawline into account, I'd say he turns xenomorph.

Leaving his insane level of handsomeness aside, he's a rather good actor. If you haven't had a chance to see Hunger yet, do so. It's an amazing film about Bobby Sands' hunger strike. It's on Netflix streaming, as is Fish Tank, another really remarkable film. His range isn't exactly Daniel Day Lewis level, but he can vary greatly.

2012-04-17 06:20:24 PM
Wait, I just thought of something: his name is DAVID?

Alien - Ash

Aliens - Bishop

Alien Resurrection - Call

Are we sure this isn't really a SEQUEL?

2012-04-17 07:15:56 PM

If you haven't seen him in "Shame" yet or even his first movie "Hunger" both directed by Steve McQueen, you have to go see both. The 18 minute unedited scene in Hunger was awesome, and Fassbender's acting in Shame was relly good.

Plus in Shame both he and Carey Mulligan are nude, and Fassbender is hung like an elephant on Viagra.

Gore isn't a big deal anymore, and the MPAA has been regulatory captured by the big studios. (hell, thats the purpose of it, isn't it?)

The real question is does he tone down the number of vocal Farks. It's about the only thing I would think could derail this into R at this time, since everything else, including death, isn't much of a liming factor anymore. ALIEN fast Fark this fark that central.
