Can Tron do for Disney XD what Star Wars did for Cartoon Network?

Short answer - No.

Long answer - Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oo.

2012-04-17 04:06:57 AM
What I found weird about the TRON sequel was that I thought Jeff Bridges was one of the worst (not quite THE worst) elements in it. :\

2012-04-17 04:07:32 AM
That said, I didn't hate it.

2012-04-17 04:13:17 AM
To be fair, they didn't give Bridges much to work with script/story wise in either Tron flick.

The only thing that changed by the second flick was that Bridges stature as an actor had increased 10 fold. The best actor can't do much if there is no script. See the last 15+yrs of Al Pacino's career for reference.

I thought this was the actual sequel's trailer, did I get trolled or are people actually excited about a cartoon?

I really liked the last one, especially at the Imax theatre in 3D with Daft Punk blasting like it was my room in the late nineties. Cant wait for that sequel.

what's wrong with cartoons? Hell most movies these days are mostly animated anyway.

I haven't seen Tron Legacy yet.

This reminded me of Aeon Flux a bit, for some reason. Or perhaps a bit of the Animatrix.

Nothing is wrong with them, but for visual sci fi it just doesn't do it for me. Especially for a series like Tron that pushes what they can show you on screen which relates directly with the world that they're in (all computery and such). I thought thats what other Tron fans were into, like myself.

Do yourself a favor and don't see it. Instead, spend a couple hours imagining what you think a cool Tron movie would be like. There's a 95% chance it's better than that mess was.

Yes from 1982.

2012-04-17 08:41:49 AM
Right. And animators in 2012 can do a hell of a lot more interesting visuals than 1982.

So?

2012-04-17 08:44:39 AM
Besides, Tron Legacy was 90% a cartoon as well. Hell the first Tron was also about 90% a cartoon.

Now it's an issue it's animated?

Agreed and agreed. It's worth seeing just to witness the soundtrack in its natural environment. Daft Punk really nails it.

I think we're looking at this a different way. I meant computer and digital creation. Cartoon is a different medium and although its much better than what could be shown 3 decades ago it doesn't make sense for this series currently (last movie was really detailed and pretty(and i'm not just talking about Olivia Wilde).

eh,

I kind of liked the clone wars when they were animated.... ermm drawn may be the better word for it. But now that I have time to watch it all I can find is the ugly CGI version. This looks decent, though.

Apos: I'm one of the five people on Earth who liked Tron:Legacy so yeah,I'm in....

I liked it, it was pretty, it didn't really knock my socks off, though.

One thing that kinda annoyed me, they didn't try to make the computer world seem alien, or even a little weird. I mean, why would computer programs go to a nightclub? But that's the geek in me, I guess normal people are okay with computer code sitting down with a mixed drink and listening to classic electronica for no real reason.

I dunno, there's something kinda ironic about Tron being a cartoon, when Tron became famous for being the first CGI flick ever.

I have no issues with the change in medium. Clone Wars is a hell of a lot better than the prequels, and that's because of the writing, after all. I'm sure I can adjust.

Yeah I had that problem too. You REALLY need serious suspension of disbelief for those movies. But whatever, if you accept it like a Final Fantasy universe or something it's reasonable enough if you don't think hard.

Yeah thats the point I was getting at. I'm a little too young to be yelling at Disney to not change this series to a cartoon and get off my cgi lawn.

I just want that Tron 3 that was promised in an article on here a couple months ago.

Especially when you consider that this complex world is hosted on a 1982 server.

I love the movie cause I enjoyed it in two different ways. I love the story and its one of two movies I can just listen to. Scott Pilgrim being the other movie I love to just listen to.

So they made a movie without Tron, just some corrupted version of him that was hardly in it and not at all necessary to the story, and now they are going to make a Tron cartoon without him.

Great work Disney, I hear you're making a Lone Ranger movie about Tonto.

I figure that's the Defrag. I mean, after a long day in the RAM, who wouldn't want to drop by the Defrag before heading back into long-term storage?
