Bathia_Mapes: ecmoRandomNumbers: Why does this always happen in India or Pakistan. WTF is in the water?

It happens quite a bit in rural China too. Industrial pollution is a major factor, but often the pregnant women get little or no prenatal care, have inadequate diets, Things like folic acid (B-complex vitamin) deficiency during the early months of pregnancy can lead to major birth defects, especially neural tube defects (new window).

You're going to see a lot of this in the United States if EPA regulations are rolled back anymore, or the EPA dissolved completely if the Republicans can get their way.

FTFA: His conjoined twin was born prematurely and incompletely developed

Call me stupid, but surely if one conjoined twin is born prematurely, they both are....?

Inbreeding + no prenatal screenings + high pollution levels = good times.

Tiny Eye came up with nothing. What in the world is this?

It's from a Danish miniseries created by Lars Von Trier called The Kingdom (Stephen King did a pretty mediocre US adaptation of it called Kingdom Hospital).

It's about a haunted hospital. One of the weirder events has to do with a woman being impregnated by a ghost and giving birth to a fully grown man with the intellect of a baby.

/yeah, this was on Danish TV

Looks like parasite twinning. Probably 2 of the legs are actually arms and just being called legs due to position/deformity.

The article is full of wtf. It also says: He tried to clarify that the baby did not have six legs - he had two legs and the other four belonged to the other twin. As if the other twin having four legs makes any sense. But of course it was born prematurely.... and just left four of its legs behind....

From this I can only conclude the conjoined twin split in two and the top half which was not attached to the other twin was born prematurely and the bottom half with the extra pair of legs got left behind.

/got nuthin

It seems more likely that the babies got started as triplets (which would explain the 6 legs), but what do I know?
