To be fair though, back in grade school when if I acted up, the principal was able to physically restrain me. Do that these days and the cops would be hauling him out of the building as the sex offender.

My ex-girlfriend works with special needs children and every year they go through refresher training on physical restraint of students. There was a 2 month period of time that she came home bruised every day from the same student, bite marks, black eyes the whole nine yards. I don't remember her ever having to call the cops but they did have to physically restrain that boy for more than a half hour while they waited for the mother to come get him. If the parents had been unable to respond I'm sure that they would have eventually called the cops. Schools don't do this kind of thing for minor tantrums I'm sure that if the child has been removed from the school for the duration of the school year there is a long and well documented series of assaults and "tantrums" that have caused injury and damage. Even though the school has removed the student from the classroom they are still legally responsible for her education if she lives in the district and she will be sent to a school better able to serve her.
