cman: Stop being so scared, America

Look at who started all of this and who will scream loudest if we try to fix this. Do you imagine for a second stuff like this could be stopped without the GOP screaming bloody murder about being soft on crime?

Wow, I am not sure who is more stupid, the school for calling the police on a 6 year old or the cops for actually responding... Zero Tolerance laws are for idiots...

School is a dangerous place to be a kid. But then, it always was.

"A six-year-old in kindergarten. They don't have no business calling the police and handcuffing my child, know what I mean, Vern?"

/double negative, your parenting skills are suspect.

FTFA: "She has mood swings some days, which all of us had mood swings some days. I guess that was just one of her bad days that day," said Constance Ruff, the child's mother.

Six year old girl has a tantrum? Arrest her! We can't allow that!

Wannabe cop shoots a kid for brandishing skittles and iced tea? Meh, let him go. No big deal.

Johnson is accused of tearing items off the walls and throwing furniture. The report mentions the girl knocked over a shelf that injured the principal.

I could just hear the principal explaining why he had her arrested.

Man she was out of control. Tearing items of the wall and throwing chairs. Yes, she went to the folding chair. We had to stop her. If she would have gotten on the third rope she would have been unstoppable.

Looks more like it's a dangerous place to be a principal!

unsurprising that the parents are more upset with the authorities than their daughter... we can expect plenty more fark headlines from this one...

Hand cuffs click/lock to the point it can cover a 6 year old's wrist?
/surprised they didn't shackle her and put a spit cover over her head
//naw just go with the hannibal mask and dolly

You start out knocking over a shelf, you end up knocking over a jewelry store.

I had a kid who had emotional problems and didn't adjust well to our care. He went on a full-on violent tantrum, and I had to restrain him. I took him to my manager's office and held onto him awhile, trying my best to soothe and calm him. Once he began to relax, I released his arms and started talking to him. Mofo reached up, grabbed the glasses off my head and twisted them all to hell, breaking one frame. Better believe mom paid for that.

2012-04-16 09:14:22 PM
Well, there goes any chance for that kid to ever earn more than minimum wage. Of course, her parents could lawyer up and get her Harvard education paid for (with the lawsuit itself, plus appeals, finishing just in time for the by-that-point-high-school-junior to start sending in the applications)

2012-04-16 09:15:47 PM
Handcuffs are completely unnecessary. Not a single one of those officers had a taser?

Conservatives seem to have started it going back to Broken Windows Theory, but liberals (especially feminists) have certainly latched onto it as well in terms of sexual harassment and free speech issues.

All in all, I suspect it's kept in play by lawyers who advise school boards on how to stay out of court.

FTFA: "According to the police report, kindergartner Salecia Johnson was crying in the principal's office at Creekside Elementary before police arrived Friday. The report says when the officer tried to calm the child, she resisted and was cuffed."

Now, if I had tried that approach with my kid, they would call that child abuse...

Anybody got an updated rule book? I sure as heck don't know the game any more...

True fact: it's legal in Milledgeville to put on a stupid shirt and whip your dick out.

I've not been to sure about Stand Your Ground legislation, but this story makes me support Stand Your Ground for items of furniture and shelving.

The mother says the 6 year old has been kicked out of school until next fall.

"Constance Ruff says her daughter was suspended and cannot return to school until August. "

2012-04-16 09:18:41 PM
The report says when the officer tried to calm the child, she resisted and was cuffed.

That'll teach her to resist being calmed.

The left was largely forced to latch on to stay in office since not so overt racism and hippie bashing worked pretty good for whites who were scared they were losing their privileged, largely the same whites that are responsible for the policy today and are Teabaggers I would suspect.

2012-04-16 09:19:53 PM
Calling the police seems a tad extreme. Perhaps the school just needs a small rubber room for students like this (for occasional use only, of course).

The cops will be found not guilty of any wrongdoing if tried by the criminal 'justice' system.

According to the police report, kindergartner Salecia Johnson

I hate these kinds of salacias stories.

2012-04-16 09:21:04 PM
I really don't have a problem with this. The kid was out of control and needed to be subdued.

She obviously hasn't received enough discipline at home, so this kind of "scared straight" method might be the last, best hope for her.

What with this happening in GA and ongbok's reference to wrestling, I thought at first this was Rebecca of Donnybrook Farm. Who is it?

Constance Ruff, the child's mother

Earnest Johnson, Salecia's father

I think I see part of the problem here.

If teachers weren't getting sued every time they gave your snowflake a stern look, they wouldn't have to resort to calling the cops.

Are you claiming that this stemmed from the Ruff Johnson wedding??

You know if some six year old had a tantrum and I suffered any kind of injury, I'd likely bleed to death or just try to stem the bleeding via gauze and/or duct tape rather than admit she kicked my ass.

To be fair though, back in grade school when if I acted up, the principal was able to physically restrain me. Do that these days and the cops would be hauling him out of the building as the sex offender.

I lived in Milledgeville for several years. This is not the least bit shocking considering the jackasses that are cops there. I'm more shocked they didn't taze the kid.
