I wonder how she feels about people with a mortgage.

it's also interesting to note that she hates people with student loans, yet spent much of her professional life in academia.

Yeah, I know, lady. I know lots of people with six-figures of student loan debt. Doctors, lawyers, CPA's, people with BA's in philosophy... Deadbeats the lot of them. Well, the definitely the last one.

The 'fark you, I got mine' party, strangely coincident with the 'fark you, I got mine' generation.

Judging by her career, she's more than happy that people take them out as they mean she gets a steady paycheck.

I am pretty confident that she is the most ignorant member of congress.

/I know that is a pretty stiff competition

Yes, you're doing great, Republicans. Keep talking shiat about the generation whose loyalty you vitally need to gain in order to continue to exist in the future.

/Still working in my chosen field to pay off my college loans like a deadbeat, rather than automatically having money like a Real American

She was born June 29, 1943; graduated 1968. So, about the 1961-1968 range.

Can anyone find UNC tuition rates for that period? Some current data are quoted here.

Here's one of Joe Barton's moments. He also apologized to Tony Heyward.

Can't find the actual comment but I swear he said that at one time, or someone did.

Shes an out of touch old douche that needs to be voted out of office. Its assholes just like her that are majorly farking up the nation.

Baby boomers - who'da thunk they would be the ruin of us all?

In the dictionary there should be a picture of this "lady" next to the entry for "twat"

2012-04-16 04:30:06 PM
must have been easy to do that when tuition cost a fraction of what it does currently

If a full time entry level job could pay for college and a small apartment, I wouldn't have graduated $25k in debt, but even working my ass off, I had to take out loans. This isn't the 60s anymore.

Maybe not a truly stupid quote but..

"I also would like to point out that there was a bill - the hate crimes bill that's called the Matthew Shepard bill is named after a very unfortunate incident that happened where a young man was killed, but we know that that young man was killed in the commitment of a robbery. It wasn't because he was gay. This - the bill was named for him, hate crimes bill was named for him, but it's really a hoax that that continues to be used as an excuse for passing these bills

pretty ignorant

I graduated in 1990 from Johns Hopkins. My entire education cost about $50,000, which was very expensive at the time. It currently costs about that much just for one year of tuition. My son will not be going there.

They continue to believe America is just temporarily moving forward in time, and will return to some bizarre Norman Rockwell-y mixture of the the 50s and the 80s as soon as these damn liberal kids stop whining about the sick and the poor.

The problem is they're hoping for the 1850s and 1880s

Don't know about there, but out here in California the costs are pretty easy to compare for the University of California campuses:

1967-1968 academic year: $320 per year

2011-2012 academic year: $13,000 per year

I'm pretty sure that most students would be able to survive without student loans today if tuition was at the 2012 equivalent of $320 in 1968 dollars.

Something around $2200.
