Now I want a bicycle that looks like a praying mantis on two fern shoots. You can put the horn in its head. and some storage for a bicycle repair kit in its abdomen.

These probably belong to a different species, but the edible shoots of the ostrich fern will soon be sprouting in New England and the Maritimes, among other places. They are delicious, especially with vinegar or butter. There are fuzzy shoots that look a lot like them. Don't eat those. They are poison. We call them fiddleheads because they ressemble the scroll work on the head of a fiddle. They are basically very upmarket spinach. They look and taste nicer. The brown "paper wrapping" can be blown off of them by reversing a vacuum cleaner.

Mantids are definitely cool, even without the Lone Locust of the Apocalypse, who is one of my favourite Adult Swim characters. One of my favourite episodes is the one where a Male Mantis Rights activist in drag keeps Zorak from losing his head over a female.

I would like to specify that my praying mantis bicycle should not be made of papier maché. I want fiberglass and titanium, or at the limit, steel. Well, maybe wood or bamboo, but no papier maché. Papier maché is for wasps.
