Well, we'll just have to wait until next November to find out, won't we?

Be with us next time for "Romney's Premature Election" or "Can't See the Moran From Here."

that's really premature to talk about victory parties before the convention. That's like the Yankees planning the World Series Champion parade before they are even in the playoffs.

Remember: If Romney wins, the crowd will be composed of patriots. If Obama wins, the crowd will be unemployed socialists.

Get ready for the unemployed socialists' bum-rush on DC!

Former Governor Mitt Romney is already offering top donors access to a special "Presidential Inaugural retreat," planned on the assumption that he will be elected president this November.

he's either insanely confident or completely deluded. i'm not sure which worries me more...

well yeah, that's a valid point as well. Romney seems arrogantly confident that he's going to win though.

Confidence is not the issue that concerns me. This feels like selling access to the Presidency itself. I'm not naive enough to realize this isn't what happens but this seems a little too blatant.

yeah, but that's been going on since the Clinton era. Both Bushes did the same thing, and i'm sure Obama has something similar running. Romney is simply assuming that he's next into the white house though, and that's...worrisome. what happens when someone that arrogant...loses? And the whole world knows it. Knows that he failed I mean.

I suspect it should be interesting to find out.

He probably read it in some power executive book on success. "If you act like your goal has already happened, then you WILL get to your goal!" or some bullshiat like that.

Maybe the fix is already in. I mean the media is in the GOP's pocket and they control the narrative. They can basically say "Romney is going to win" and the people will say "News says Romney's gonna win" and then it becomes reality.]

Who knows? Tinfoil hat set to on.

This can't possibly be seen as a way to raise cash now while giving directly to the campaign, not at all.

You guys are missing the obvious.

It they all say Romney is winning, many will believe it and he won't lose as badly. Not a terrible strategy for a respectable 2nd place finish.

If the polls reported that Obama was going to lose 60-40 three days before the election, I'd still show up to vote for Obama.

The problem with you theory is that the current media narrative is that Romney is going to lose, and said narrative is accurate.

ManateeGag: that's really premature to talk about victory parties before the convention.

I think the bigger problem here is the price point. It could be argued that people with substantial wealth have a logical and sensible reason to support republicans if their main concern is short term gain with little consideration for the future. However, those people tend to be at least somewhat intelligent and I have to question why anybody of any intelligence would go along with this unless they already intended to donate that amount anyway.

When your primary support base at the polls is actually a group of monumental ignoramuses who have been carefully crafted through thirty five years of increasingly outrageous lies and fear-mongering, it seems more sensible to put something like this within their reach.

If you're going to offer to offer something incredibly stupid, you have to make sure that it's a price point where incredibly stupid people can afford it. Some silly hillbilly in the south may want to throw away his money on a long bet on your campaign, but if he can't it's all a moot point.

Do we really need two greenlit threads from BuzzFeed to keep Farkers from noticing the NY Times story on buying access to Obama and the awesome story of former Rep. Kennedy describing political payoffs to the Obama administration as quid pro quo?

Just how worried are you that the rank and file will actually notice they're being misled?

If it was done by both Bushes then it predates even the Clinton era doesn't it? You do realize that Bush I came before Clinton, or do you work on the Fox news time-lines.

a fair number of states still have "black box voting" using machines that are ridiculously easy to untraceably hack bought from a company that is owned by rabid-poltically active Republicans (The way Chuck Hagel went from having a secret ownership stake company that produces these machines to an upset win as US Senator is a still wildly under-investigated story)
