In the 80s I had blue hair, green hair, multi-colored hair, jet black hair, white hair, and a variety of punk/post-punk/new romantic/goth styles that were very distracting.

And nobody in the schools said a word about it. They didn't mind my clothes, either, which were far from the conservative outfits required today.

Schools today are doing an excellent job of stripping individualism and artistic expression out of the future workforce drones.

Seconded.

The threads are for the topic. Not a social advertisement of wishlists, spamming the same pics of yourself, random "hi how are you, haven't seen you in forever" etc etc.
There are forums for such people, some even a part of fark.

IMO, you still have to be non-ugly to make it "work", otherwise you're drawing attention to the ugly.... But a pretty woman with red or green hair is no more distracting than a pretty woman with "normal" hair color. It can even add to a face that's not ...well....that is more neutral when it comes to features' attractiveness.

Hey, if stuffy old british women can go with frantic hair colors, it really shouldn't be an issue.

Being pretty, nor ugly, regardless of how it's carried out, should not get one kicked out of class. After the initial shock, most people deal just fine, except, for, you know, prudish and judgmental assholes. (now, i can see where extreme cases of beauty, and extreme ugly, can cause actuall attention problems. I mean nudity, raging-hardon or vomit inducing, can obliterate any given man's thought process. I'm sure women have their equivalent. But problems of that nature are life-long and an exception to personal taste, things that need to be tolerated.

As long as students don't expose too much skin(and no, not the prudish "too much" being ankles or whatever), or do really crazy shiat like mowhawks, wolverine hair, etc...That's where I draw the line. That is not only a distraction at times, it can be obstructive of vision. A little color and such is fine, gut A classroom of Lady Gaga's all in meat dresses and duct tape over the nipples being a "shirt", that's a bit too much.

As a curiosity, dress codes that confining can breed prejudice, and perpetuate the problem. They don't just go to school to learn about the facts, they go to learn social skills, acceptance of others, etc.

aww, some of my images got nuked for being too large or unfetchable

I don't flirt. Flirting is for coy young women who really don't know how to be direct and ask for what they want. I am neither young nor indirect.

The discussion had been about sex, I threw in my two cents. It was an opinion, not a fishing line.

As for what I crave - you can only hope and dream to know what I don't need to crave because I've either done it, am doing it or will be sometime soon.

Getting so worked up over hair colors, lengths, and styles that you suspend and expulse children form school for it shows how drooling retarded this country is becoming.

It harms no one. People who would be distracted by it are troublemakers or have ADD anyways. We're human beings, not mass-produced robots. If someone's hair color or style makes you pants-shiatting;y angry, seek psychiatric help immediately.

Humans don't come with the brindle coat pattern, that's pretty exclusively dogs and horses. Thus "non-human", thus against the policy. Not that the policy isn't stupid, but it's fairly clearly against the policy as written.

LabGrrl: [Cool Story Mom]
My mom is oldest of a giant group of redheads, which begat some 40 1st cousins, about 2/3 of which are some kind of redhead. One of my cousins has natural haircolor that can only be replicated by buying manic panic's "Rock and Roll Red." When we were growing up she got threatened by her school for dying it. We went skinny dipping many summers. I could've told them it was her natural color. So, I'd be careful about what I define as a "normal human color."

Which sex thread? (Here's where I make myself a target and say I've been in a couple lately.) And who's GD? I'm scatterbrained, I sometimes need context.

Believe me, my Amazon wishlist would break the internet. I love books, movies and music; not necessarily in that order, but in equal, copious amounts. No one person nor any group of people can satisfy my appetites (insert cheeky grin here).

Hypothetical Imperative: I once knew a girl with a naturally occurring white streak in her hair, one of her employers made her dye it to match the rest of her so she'd be in compliance with the "no multi-colored hair" rule. I've actually known several people with hair that was naturally multi-colored but she's the only one that ever had to do anything about it.

As for the story, it's a school. It is a known fact that all learning at that location will come to a total and complete halt if anyone is violating even the spirit of a single rule, so something had to be done. I mean, cripes. If she had shown up in shorts that were 2" above her knee it could have caused the whole class to be held back a year, so be thankful it was just hair color.

So what about the executive types with their grey streaks? Does HR require them to "match" the streaks?

/thankful my company's HE tards aren't that bad

Fat girls have to be more fun and less annoying. Because they're fat. Duh.

Me, I don't like fat. It's a huge turn-off to me. A person who is overweight and complacent about it is in some ways no better than a smoker. They both know they're doing long-term damage to their health and are putting themselves at elevated risk for a whole host of potentially fatal conditions, and they just don't care about it. That's not an attitude I find attractive.

Her hair was jet black and the streak was in the front and stark white. If you didn't know better you'd think she did it on purpose with dye or bleach and it would not have been confused with a grey streak. Stacy London has a smaller streak like it though I'm not sure whether hers is naturally occurring or not.

If your employer tells you to dye your hair to conform, may God have mercy upon your soul. Obviously you have one of the shiattiest jobs on the planet.

Not every job in the world with a dress code is the zomg worst job evar. In her case it was a very large pharmaceutical company and in her own words "For what they're paying me I'd get a boob job if they asked."

Would help if the whole "school board overracted to a 13 yo girl putting some kind of personality in her hair" thing hadn't already been done a billion times before.

Honestly, I feel bad for the kid, but the parents must have some other recourse than to go straight to the media. If the rules are that ridiculous, work from within for change.

I still don't see how hair colour affects someone's performance, though. Stupid rule.
