This should be a hot redhead thread.

I'm definitely in the mood for some hot redheads.

There may be some validity to their argument.

I assume Farkers will post plenty of appealing examples showing otherwise.

On the one hand, suspensions for having weird hair colors are stupid.

On the other hand, it's friggin' ISS - it's not worth even mentioning to anyone, much less putting on the news.

Hannah Adams and her friend dyed parts of their hair red at the beginning of spring break, and were sent to ISS on Tuesday when they returned to school.

Holy crap. In my day you were sent to the principal's office. Now they send kids to the International Space Station for punishment? I would've loved that.

I'm curious what world these school admin types live in. I've never had an employer hassle an employee over something like this no matter what unnatural color the employee's hair is, mostly because that'd be pretty valid grounds for a sexual harassment suite. Are they truly trying to teach children how to handle completely unreasonable demands from a boss or something?

Saw her picture. I think I know the what the real issue is here.

Upheld, based on her appearance. Now, naturally, if she were prettier, I would change my opinion, but as it stands, I must stand in agreemance with the school. That's right, agreemance. Perfectly cromulent.

to be fair, the hair net covers any dye jobs ;)

The Greenville County School District said the principal has spoken with the Adams', but that the rules, are the rules.

Sounds like the school board needs to be purged in the next election and some new people brought in to shiat can the principal.

She is 13? She looks...old. And fat too, of course. She could totally have done the story as her mom complaining about her 13 yro daughter getting sent home, and I'd have believed it.

So instead of paying the Russians all I have to do is dye my hair?
/koolaide should work nicely.

It is zero tolerance and it's all handled by a computer. If you want the school to make judgement calls, you'll have to elect and pay actual people to do the job and that will cost money for local taxpayers.

When I worked at Chase (in an office, not a bank) one of my coworkers had a bright pink Mohawk. He usually had it down, but from time to time (when we had "beach day" or "sports team day" or whatever) he'd wear it up. Nobody gave a shiat because we were grownups and realized that his chosen hair style had literally zero effect on his job performance.

I get what the school is saying here.

The policy (while poorly worded) suggests that the school doesn't want kids dyeing their hair unnatural colors.

Don't give me this "red is a natural color" BS; if you've tinted a stripe into part of your hair, nobody will think it's natural. Seriously, would anyone look at this girl's haiur and think "yeah, it must grow in that way." No? Then it's against the rules. If she'd done her whole head that color and at least tried to make it look "natural", she'd have an argument.

She's trying to make the "Rogue's hair in X-Men was all "natural colors" so this must be ok too" argument.

No, you're a retarded AW and your parents are enablers.

/love all the white knighting of a stupid 13 yr old too dumb to recognize the rules and who thinks she's clever for finding a "loophole"

On the other other hand, now that half of America knows she got suspended over her hair color (and possibly for not being photogenic) she's gonna make some lawyer a few million dollars happier.

It's the South; that'll never happen. The South loves to beat all the creativity and individuality out of its students. Seriously, every time there's a "kid gets suspended for completely retarded fashion reason" the kid lives in the South. Hair too long, hair too short, hair wrong color, skirt too short, pants too low, earrings too much in nose. Just let kids be kids. Eventually they'll grow out of it. Probably.

I'm glad the school boards are spending all this time on the important things like educating the future leaders of the world what colour hair people have.

Humans don't come with the brindle coat pattern, that's pretty exclusively dogs and horses. Thus "non-human", thus against the policy. Not that the policy isn't stupid, but it's fairly clearly against the policy as written.

Pretty much this.

/I also didn't get the ending of "Mr. Holland's Opus"...yeah, yeah he had more influence on the kids than he realized, but if he was *that* popular, why didn't he run for the School Board on a platform of getting music education and art reinstated in the budget?
//regarding the 13 year old, rock the hair, home school or transfer, you didn't want to taught by idiots anyway
///when I was 13 I would have totally hit that, then again at 13 almost anything female aside from family members and pets was looking sorta hot, especially my English teacher

I dyed my hair for a musical role, but my mom insisted it be my natural colour for senior pictures. I nearly got suspended because after they stripped my hair (was dyed jet black, I'm naturally platinum blond,) and re-dyed it, it had a strange reddish hue.

/ had a kid show up with blue highlights in his black hair once
// since he was a transfer from another school, they let him stay, but gave him until the following Monday or face being sent home.
/// most lenient I ever saw from those backwards-assed hicks.
