The best way to upset Mitt Romney would be to give him regular coffee instead of decaf

Oh, he would be so pissed!.

I hope to god that Romney doesn't get the nomination. This whole MSM talking point giving Romney the nod needs to stop.

Also do not be surprised when Ron Paul makes a showing in Tampa.

/will gladly eat my words if I am wrong, but I hope not

I'm hoping it's a flash mob singing covers of Glee covers.

DozeNutz: Also do not be surprised when Ron Paul makes a showing in Tampa.

Nobody doubts he'll show up. The only question is what he's going to do with his seven delegates.

Is there really much that can be done to prevent it? There's little chance he won't have enough delegates to win the first ballot.

Yeah, because Newt and Ron still have a chance. All they need is for Mitt to drop out. I can't believe the MSM mainstream media is making it look like Mitt will win.

Keep on hoping, but it's gonna happen.

And how often has 'Don't be surprised when RON PAUL makes a showing in [city name]' been said?

So basically after falling to show up in the primary elections, he's trying to gain backroom support from delegates? I'm shocked.

Really the elephant in the room is what happens if Frothy and Gringrich's delegates combine into some obstructionist bloc. They can't stop Romney, but they can make the convention bloody as opposed to a nice show of unified force.

Well...I really don't recall a candidate having such lackluster support before. But maybe my memory is fuzzy. And don't say that Kerry was the same. Kerry had a good deal of people excited about him. Romney...no.

Personally, I'd find it farking hilarious if Newt dropped out. The party higher-ups know that Romney is their only halfway decent shot at the Presidency; Newt simply has too much baggage from the Clinton years, and Ron Paul is...well, Ron Paul. So if Romney dropped out, there would be *hilarious* panic within the GOP. And hell, if I were Romney, I'd do it just to pay them back for all the shiat they threw at me during the primaries.

Of course, Romney wants to be President far, far too much to drop out, but it's fun to think about.

The refusal of the lamestream driveby media to cover Doctor RON PAUL is simply proof that they are scared of him, and that they are conspiring with the entrenched Republican machine to silence him.

No, I am so very much hoping that this will happen. I hope that just as Romney is going to do his primary victory speech, Sarah Palin shows up dressed as Lady Liberty and the place just goes absolutely bonkers.

Article indicated that Frothy and Paul's delegate were combining. If Gingrich's delegates join in it could be dangerous to Mitt, but there is no garuntee they will vote for Paul, they could as a group go with Santorum.

If Ron Paul wants to be president so badly, he should invent a time machine and go back to about 1876, when his ideas were popular.

How is this still a question? Mitt is getting the nomination. The odds of Ron Paul or Newt Gingrich getting the nomination at this point are statistically insignificant. I don't mean Truman beating Dewey unlikely, I mean Mondale beating Reagan insignificant.

I doubt it, Paul was told to swing from Romney's nuts during the whole primary campaign and he did as ordered.

2012-04-16 11:43:21 AM
Maybe Ron Paul doesn't get alot of media coverage because the people who typically vote in Republican primaries have no interest in voting for someone who is anti-war and pro-legalization. As long as he's a Republican, there's no way he's getting the nomination.

2012-04-16 11:43:56 AM
I actually am glad that Romney has a decent amount of momentum, and am kind of pissed that Frothy dropped out. Frothy wasn't ever going to make it, especially once he got his ass handed to him in PA. What I'd hoped for was for Frothy to get some X%, still trying up to the point where Romney got his 1,144, and everyone went home.

The thing I thought would happen though is that once everybody went home, they'd stay home, in large enough numbers that the down ticket effect of people not being excited about Romney would affect the votes for senators and representatives. Maybe even some interesting results for legislation, judges, school boards, etc.

Still though, I'm hoping there's enough "Romney's not a real conservative" inertia to go with my original hope. This whole little back room ploy with RON PAUL!!!!! provides some entertainment, and I look forward to seeing the result, but I don't think the backlash of it being unsuccessful will be as strong as Frothy not getting to 1,144 would be.

Paul and Romney have been friends since the last go-around 4 years ago. I suspect that RP has been acting as a bit of a spoiler on MR's behalf for the whole primary cycle. In exchange RP gets to espouse his crazy views at the convention. It's win-win. If you notice, RP has barely attacked MR since the primary began, compared to how he attacks Obama. I don't think RP has a goal of winning. I think he just wants to get his idealogy into the mainstream and to set the national stage up for his son.

I love that RON PAUL'S plan to win the presidential election involves circumventing elections.

Any particularly juicy scandal could sink him. That possibility in always statically significant. Would make any difference anyways but I would like to see the type of crazy Newt could bring to a debate with Obama.

I happen to have good intel suggesting the Dems are the ones pushing the Romney ticket through indirect methods. They actually want Romney to get the nod.

Prediction: The Republicans have their real nominee sitting off to the side. They'll scuttle Romney as it gets closer to the RNC. This whole fiasco has been a ruse by the Republicans. The idea was to tire the crazy ultra-right base and warm them the idea to voting for someone slightly out of their comfort zone.

Think about it. The big five in the primary were:
1) A Catholic shamed out of the capitol
2) Gingrich and his illustrious history with the Republican base
3) A scream at the clouds Libertarian
4) A mormon
5) A black guy

It's the classic used car schtick. Have the sucker test drive a clunker first, then have him test drive the overpriced SUV. With the clunker as a point of reference, he'll take anything even moderately better.

So, when they put someone new as the nominee at the RNC, there will be controversy, but all of the Republicans coast to coast will begrudgingly vote for that person... plus, the Dems will not have had the dirt on this person, as they spent time/money hoping what they got on Romney will swing it.

Trust me, morally bankrupt political groups ALWAYS know how to play the game.

His supporters may be plotting something, but Ron Paul himself sold out a long time ago in the primary.

Ron Paul don't have dick for supporters. Ron Paul was a Santorum shield, nothing else. Santorum isn't going to endorse Ron Paul, lol, or Gingrich. He'll sadly endorse mittens when the time is right. Meaning the time he's bought.

Paul did have some web ads attacking Romney. That's all he could afford to do. I doubt Paul was in cahoots with Romney - rather he was attempting to sew up grassroots support and waiting for the other guys to implode whole not making himself a target of Romney's huge war chest. He didn't go after Romney in a big way because to do so would have been counterproductive - the other guys were doing it for him.

Plus, Ron Paul does not strike me as the sort to take orders from anyone, no less the "GOP establishment."
