If anyone can make you question your faith in ANYTHING, it's the NY sporting press and fans.

Yankees = Tebow

2012-04-16 12:07:28 AM
Yankees fans and Tebow? Yeah, you people deserve each other.

Booing Tim Tebow and Dwayne Wade? Y'know, maybe Yankees fans aren't all bad.

Robo Beat: Booing Tim Tebow and Dwayne Wade? Y'know, maybe Yankees fans aren't all bad.

Nah, this is the exception that proves just how bad they are--it shows that they're capable of something else and simply choose to be jackasses.

The mixture of Tebow and NYC will make ESPN a whole lot more unbearable during football season.

2012-04-16 03:33:17 AM
Why are Tebow and Wade hanging out together in the first place?

GAT_00: Yankees fans and Tebow? Yeah, you people deserve each other.

This is the very essence of "A pox on both their houses".

First, aren't Yankee fans also mainly NY Giants fans?

Second, Mark Sanchez will have them chanting "Tebow! Tebow! Tebow!" by about week 3 of the 2012 NFL Season.

I can guarantee you that like I can guarantee Peyton Manning going down with a season ending injury about the same time, and Denver fans chanting "Whar Tebow?"

While I really don't want to see Peyton get hurt or fail. The lulz of Tebow succeeding, and a Manning failure would be priceless. The press, fans, and backstabbing players would be merciless on Elway.

Since ESPN has sites for specific cities, I would like a version where I see all sports stories except the ones from New York.

2012-04-16 04:12:37 AM
They weren't saying, "Boooo". They were all speaking in tongues so that Tebow could understand them. "Boooo" in tongues means...oh wait. It means the same thing.

I think of this scene from Happy Gilmore every time someone mentions Tebow might become a decent player.

Jeering at someone for no reason is known as a, "New York Hello". This was more of a compliment than anything.

If New York managed to join the SEC, you would be able to hear ESPN's orgasm from space.

Harry_Seldon: First, aren't Yankee fans also mainly NY Giants fans?

Sort of.

Its more along the lines of both teams attract the same kind of fans: generally
middle- to upper-class. I think they also attract the more casual fans (I count
myself as both a Yankee and a Giants fan, but really don't follow either sport
closely).

Being that Tebow plays for the Jets, the stereotype of his fans is that they are
more lower-middle- or working class types who tend to be more rowdy and
prone to alcohol-related misbehavior. So it may be that they were booing him
due to this connection to the Jets, though I'd like to think they were doing it
because of his sanctimonious public persona.

That, or New York fans just like to boo people because hey fark you.

I feel kinda bad for him.

However, I have my fingers crossed that Manning will be protected.

Teebow would draw a bigger crowd right now than wade, I don't get it but people love teebow and I want to see him succeed just to watch other people eat shiat. But if he crashes and burns I don't care since its NY.

So the front page of ESPN says Wade and Tebow got "Bronx cheers". Does that means boos, because the article says otherwise.

They were also booing Pujols, which the ESPN radio commentators acknowledged with no ability to explain why it was happening.

A bronx cheer is booing, because they are assholes.

Seems to usually go Yankees/Giants/Rangers (since those are the older, more established teams), and Mets/Jets/Islanders (since those are the newer teams).

I thought the "Bleacher Bums" were the old Dodgers fans, but if not I defer to

The old stadium was torn down a few years ago, this isn't ancient history I'm talking about, I mean in the 2000s.

For the same reason he's being booed elsewhere.

I, for one, saw Tebow w/ the Yankee hat on and immediately had a negative reaction, the exact same feeling I get when I see a politician wearing a Yankee hat when he's running for office, and never else. Yankee fan my ass, he's just trying to fit in.

BOOOOOOOOOOO

I don't know why you'd say that. He's never tried to fit it in before.

/and by "fit it in" I mean in a girl's vagina

yeah, most Yankees fans are Giants fans and most Mets fans are Jets fans. but lots of people don't follow those rules. The Yankees and Giants have definitely been giving their fans the better product for the past 20+ or so years.

Yup, this just strengthens my theory that the vast majority are Yankees/Giants/Rangers fans. Mets/Jets/Islanders are usually the guys born in the 50's and 60's who like sucky expansion teams for some reason.

Oh yeah, easily. I mean look at how the Garden crowd boos Humphries because he had the temerity to call out the AW Kim Kardashian.

Too close for comfort for some Gardenites.

Well to be fair, what else was he supposed to wear? He's at a Yankees game and he now plays for a NY team. If he wears another team's hat, that's not going to go over well. I mean, let's assume he wears the hat for his team, so... maybe growing up in northern Florida, his favorite team was the Braves? So I dunno, him wearing a Braves hat to a Yankees game, while "keeping it real" would probably elicit more than just boos.

Also, why is my sweet boy hanging out with that asshole Wade? I'm so disappoint, Timmy.

Meh; he could've been there without wearing a hat. Wearing a Yankee hat makes him look like he's pandering to the crowd.

Not at all. There's no animosity towards the Braves and their fans in the Bronx. After all, they were our 1996 slumpbuster and eagerly bent over again in 1999.

Wearing a Braves hat to a Mets game, on the other hand...that wouldn't go over well.
