Should be: women self-report they are more moral.

Which leads me to believe women lie more, and are therefore less moral.

And men under 30 are more moral than women. It's all game theory. Everyone takes advantage of their social status when they have it. Power corrupts, as they say. When women are young, everyone wants them and they have the world by the balls. They cheat on their boyfriends and lie and manipulate people to steal resources and acquire attention. Then when they are no longer in a position to negotiate, they become "moral." Men bide our time, put up with getting our hearts broken by prima donnas, then finally later in life when we have amassed money and power, we sleep with our secretaries.

Basically everyone's an asshole, just on an opportunity basis.

And he revealed that as we get older, we also appear to become more moral.

My experience so far is this: Old people who had their fun, want to deny it to young people.

Once women reach over the age 30 they perfect the art of lying.

Women cavort around like whores through their 20's. By the late 20's early 30's they decide they want to settle down and have kids and at that point turn into prudes. Men are sluts regardless of age.

The author of the article has obviously never lived with a woman - "moral" is the last word I'd use to describe 99% of them.

Women over 30 are, however, more likely to take it up the ass on the first date.

airplane_mech2: I can't decide whether this article is more insulting to men or to women. Tell me, do men ever get tired of these 'studies' indicating that they are amoral, sub-human troglodytes? Because frankly that would piss me off to no end.

Not to mention all the tv commercials that portray men as these bumbling idiots and then the woman comes in and saves the day. Try reversing that and see what happens.

You guys made my day. Seriously. I thought I was the only guy who felt like shiat after watching those commercials.

Yeah, AT&T, it's the father who can't figure out the wireless internet in the house. He needs his 14-year-old daughter to find his "cord" for him and his wife to explain it. Forget the fact that men make up the majority of the engineering schools that develop technologies like the internet. Forget that statistically speaking, he's most likely the guy paying for it. Forget that pulling that shiat with the female members of the household would get you picketed by NOW. Just degrade men.

No wonder most guys don't want to stick around to be fathers and husbands. Fathers used to be revered. The kings of the house. A father's word was law. Now? You're a domesticated moron who spends his time begging for sex from the superior female. You don't have to degrade fathers to make men and women equal. We're not morons. We put up the Hoover Dam, the Empire State Building, built the atom bomb, and discovered flight. We can do pretty damned well without some woman giving her input. Now, of course, women should be treated as equals and with respect, but fark off it you think we're brainless.

Damn it.

Woman over 30 says, "Men don't want women who already have children"
Woman over 30 then asks a man over 30,"do you have custody of your kids?"
If Man answers, "yes", Woman disappears in a puff of smoke.
That's their morality.

I see the Fark misogyny brigade is out in full force this morning. You pussies can't even stand to have a misinterpreted headline from a misleading Daily Fail article saying that women might have something over you. What a bunch of whiny little men.

Ambivalence: I'm curious what definition they're using for "moral" as opposed to "ethical".

Because morality is defined by societal mores that may or may not be ethical in nature. For example, the concept of forcing women into subservient roles is "moral" in certain cutlures but not, under any objective definition, ethical.

Given that, would it not be more accurate to say women are more ethical if they are endowed with greater empathy and are less inclined to inflict violence on others or steal/lie/cheat?

And with the exception of the claim to less violence, I am not suggesting women are more ethical so much as less agressive on the whole.

I think you kind of have it backwards -- "ethics" is the set of rules that is imposed by a society or social institution (e.g., American Bar Association, American Medical Association, etc), whereas morality can be more subjective or situational, and can be argued. So if a lawyer hears his client confess to a crime to him/her in confidentiality, it may be more moral for the lawyer to expose that guilt to the authority, but it would be more ethical for the lawyer to advise the client on how to find the best loophole to justify the malfeasance, or get the best possible plea bargain and minimize the sentence. In other words, they don't want herpes, AIDS, etc., and/or don't want to get pregnant. That's clever.

You seem to be confusing moral relativism with morality in general. Morals and ethics are synonyms and are used interchangeably in most cases.

As for the dude in TFA, his brand of morality is all kinds of jacked up. 'ethics of obedience, care, and reason' - qualities he believes lie at the heart of decision-making and therefore morality. WTF is that shiat?

It's not news, it's an unintelligible headline linking to a Daily Fail puff piece about a survey probably carried out by an underwear company or something to provoke pointless debates about abstract concepts that waste everyone's time and help no one

God love them, women are really a delight when they are young, but time takes its toll and turns them into hormonal harpies.

Take that women who was mute for 33 years and just got her voice back. What does she do? She nags her husband.

Women just can't be content with what they have. I think that's why they are never really happy.
