Ignorance is a weapon the bourgeoisie wield against the proletariat. It's a non-partisan issue.

The online syllabus is a link to Vivid Video.

I wonder if Tori Black has semester rates for a Sex Ed class, and does she accept a student grant?

20 minutes seems excessive. Who wants to watch 5 minutes of doggy style?

2012-04-15 08:21:30 PM
OK, I'm completely apathetic about the porn aspect of this.

However, if you are a college professor who is not in an A/V driven department like Film or Radio, and you waste your students' time by showing canned content in class, you need to lose your tenure and possibly your job because you are clearly the worst professor in history. This kind of shiat belongs in the "assigned reading" category, your lecture time is for lecturing, i.e. presenting an analysis of material that provides insight into the content that you assigned them to read/watch in the previous week and answering questions they might have. If your students can gain the content of your lectures without attending or watching your lectures, the appropriate thing to do is just give them the day off and the reference number of the video in the campus archive and not waste their time.

All right, done ranting now.

//But seriously, Fresno State sucks.

I don't care. Everyone was of age and signed up to learn about human sexuality. A large part of sexuality is intercourse.

I wish any college course i took had materials I could fap to.

Stanford was doing this and more 40 years ago. Human Sexuality was taught in the largest lecture hall they had and it included homos, bestiality, dwarves etc all on film. Amazing how many liberal arts majors signed up for that biology class.

If I may retort; Dingles and who-hass, as we all know, are of the DEVIL. Even what comes out of them is until you flush/baptize it (the water is important, the words, smoke and oil, not so much). I mean duh, this teacher, whether she knew it or not, was recklessly putting students immortal souls in peril. She should be ashamed!

Human sexuality being taught in a Human Sexuality class? This is an outrage! Someone get that old dude with the f*cked-up teeth to yell about this immediately!

smooshie: Fresno State University public health professor Peggy Gish had to defend her curriculum when one of her students complained earlier this week that she showed a 20-minute pornographic film in class, website Campusreform.org first reported.

Seems legit.

So, once again, somebody signed up for a class for the express purpose of complaining about the class. We get it, you hate being alive and all that it entails.

The authorities will need to study this course material as part of a thorough investigation. Just analyzing the film could take months. It's a tough job, but they're up to the task.

On the bright side, maybe seeing a penis will scare her enough for her to get herself fixed, or join a convent.

Depends how it was being done. If they just watched it in one big block and then talked about it, I agree. If they broke it down and interrupted the video the discuss so they could analyze while it was happening, I'm ok with it.

Thank FSM that she didn't do a SAR (Sexual Attitude Reassessment). We're talking 8 hours of all kinds o' pr0n... and that's just a SAR I.... there's an Episode II. Even I shudder to think its repercussions ;)

I think her vagina would have throttled this "student's" pea-brain to survive the horrible sin emanating from it.

At Northern Illinois University they held "Erotic Week" in late April when for a buck about a thousand of us would crowd into a large math lecture hall and watch "Deep Throat" or "Devil In Miss Jones" or some other main-stream porn. It was about 70% guys and 30% girls, mostly on dates. It was more weird than erotic, tho, especially cuz some profs showed up.

This is bullshiat. I'm a psychology studies graduate. I took Psychology of sex a couple years ago and they showed clips from porn, the teacher warned us and had the option for people to opt out if they were offended. There was no issue. From what I've heard this is a pretty common thing in SEXUALITY classes...WHY IS THIS NEWS?

2012-04-15 08:40:39 PM
My human sex professor was the infamous Mona Coates of Orange Coast College.

This is back when we still watched films on those old reel to reel projectors: no internet and porn was hard to come by. The first day of class we watch a porn film for about 15 minutes. The girl sitting next to me asked me "did you like that?" I looked down at my lap, looked over at her and said, "what do you think?"

After four years of Catholic high school- public junior college was like going to heaven.

This picture is probably taken fifteen years after I took the class. She's the older lady holding the "sex in a bucket."

smooshie: Seems legit.

cool, I just reported Leftist Abuse to them.

It's happening everywhere, not just in Virginia. At institutions of higher learning all across this Great Land, liberals have dominated the curriculum; they further modes of thought which do not subjugate and chastise women, foreigners, colored people, the poor, homosexuals, and even people who do not believe in Jesus Christ as their one true Lord and Savior. I find this wrong. Wrong, I tell you! Something must be done to restore our great Universities to Conservative enclaves where we can teach a world view that resembles something akin to any given episode of "Leave it to Beaver." Good night and God bless.

I hope they do something about this

Fair point, I guess my mental analogy was picturing more of a "here, watch this while I read the paper" thing and less a "*pause* now note in this scene how leverage is maintained while the camera is kept at an appropriate angle". I guess your version would make more sense.

Graduated from a similar institution about 5 years ago. Now (or, at least, then) there seems to be more of a moderated view about it. A lot of people see it as an extension of feminism (women can do whatever they want!); these people are often the ones who also believe a woman should be able to prostitute herself if she wants.

On the other hand, there is an acknowledgment that we don't live in a perfect world. Both pornography and prostitution are often exploitative of women in bad situations and both often lead to/are tied to abuse of said women.

The compromise on pornography is some times, "Try to be a socially conscious fapper and try to find cruelty-free porn" (no, really).

I like how Campusreform's slogan is "Take Back YOUR Campus" as though conservativism has ever been a cornerstone of any liberal arts institution.

This is pretty tame for a human sexuality course. Remember a couple of years ago when a professor got in trouble for letting an exhibitionist couple fark each other in front of a class with a modified reciprocating saw?

Weaver95: propasaurus: Roook: I imagine the student joined the class to see where babies come from because she loves storks.

I imagine the student joined the class with the specific intent to object to the course material.

its possible. sounds like the course material went out of its way to alert students to the fact that there might be some explicit discussion of human sexuality during class and that it might offend some people. if someone went and got offended after being warned ahead of time about the course material then either they are a complete idiot or they're looking to manufacture a controversy.

This.

The college needs to explain to the kid that they signed up for this class themselves, the information that was provided for them regarding the material in the class, and inform them of their right to drop the class if they don't want to take it anymore. That's the end of the discussion.

It's like a kid complaining about being grounded for choosing not to do his chores, when he was explicitly told he would be grounded if he didn't do his chores.

2012-04-15 08:43:56 PM
If the video was a copy of "Weapons of Ass Destruction Volume 5" then I could see the issue but I don't see a problem with this. Sounds like the student is too immature for college level material.

CrispFlows: Is the 'student' actually trying to forbid anybody study a controversial subject in an academic setting?

With the same said student advised, in advance, that they may find some content objectionable and that they may opt out at their discretion?

That student has no value to gain from academia if s/he didn't think those two basic premises out.

In fact, I would prefer the school to kick the stick-in-the-arse out!

Reminds me of an issue that arose at my old community college. A speech class. The professor held the position that you could speak on ANY topic provided that you were prepared to research it thoroughly and defend it. The professor had nothing but high ratings from students in his SOQs, was highly regarded amongst other faculty and the administration, etc. Well, one student did a speech about how to give oral sex to a woman.

One student complained, and prof was forced to resign.

In high school I got my electronics teacher to play 'ninja scrolls' while we worked. He asked me if there was anything bad in it, and I go, 'no'. He was cool teacher, I knew I was safe, plus there was not a single girl in class. The moment we got to the scene where the rock man is raping that chick, he goes, 'oooooooookkkkkk that's coming out.'
/funny how the very first scene, the rock guy rips off that dude's arms and drinking his blood was aok.

I'll bet the oral exams are hard.
