I went out last night and was assailed by Ballmers crowing about the Orioles. And so farking what? Week two of the season means nothing. I'm rooting for them but Jaysus. Get some perspective.

If there's anything the Indians taught me last year it's that, if you're a fan of a losing team, it's best to keep the cockiness under wraps if they start doing well early in the season...or throughout the first half of the season...or, ya know what, just shut the f*ck up until they win the division.

I know this is going to sound so wrong, but I'm from Boston. And I'm 45. October is the worst month. Don't get cocky until after the dog days of summer are come and gone. Even then, you might want to check it.

weird how some are already calling RIP on Lincecum's career. heard a guy on ESPN this morning saying as much. "this is two straight years of lincecum getting worse and worse!"

he's sucked in two starts. settle down.

although the Snakes are already laying the groundwork to move Collmenter to the bullpen if not AAA after two really bad starts.

i don't remember his record last year, i'm just saying today on ESPN radio -- nationally syndicated in other words -- the guy was burying him, and it has been a story elsewhere. relax, everyone.

although it was cool opening day when after having faced 5 Snakes, count 'em, FIVE, he'd given up 2 HRs and 3 earned runs. there was later a stat where in either 2011 or his career, he'd never given up a first inning HR. and the Snakes heisted that ass twice in five battters.

He had a great year last year, and he's had a really great career. I just think it's idiotic to judge anybody in baseball by the first few weeks or even months of the season. It's mostly about who can hang in there for the long haul. It's the longest season professional athletes face. Everybody just calm the fark down.

Ehhh... it is dumb to jump to conclusions based on two 2012 starts, but since 2009 his K/9 has been dropping while his BB/9 has been rising. That's a little concerning. He could easily turn that around this year though so no one should be saying that he's done.

No mention of the Sox beating up the Tigers in the headline?

I know it is early in the season, but I thought Det would be 5 games ahead by now.

Give the Sox some props subby, I know power rankings will still have the Tigers ahead of the Sox.

I'm still grumbling over the indignity of CJ "Tweets" Wilson getting his first win against the Yankees yesterday. Hopefully tonight (Angels-Yanks is the 8 pm ESPN game) shows yesterday to be an outlier.

Do you have an Xbox 360 or PS3? If so, I recommend the MLB.tv premium subscription. For $25 a month (or $125 for the year), you get live HD streaming of any game (outside of your blackout area, so check that first) with the ability to pause, fast forward, rewind, switch between home & away broadcasts, etc, full access to HD streams of all past games from this season and a free iPhone/Android app that allows you access to home or away audio streams of any game.

Yeah, aware of that.. unfortunately I don't have either of those, just a dusty Wii.

Well, it lets you stream on your computer, too, but I wouldn't pay $25 a month for that unless you have a way of running it through your TV...or you have a big-ass monitor to watch on.

Hey, come on, you're an O's fan, right? Then you know that we have to enjoy the ride while it lasts, whether it is a few weeks or half a season. Almost three decades since the last World Series championship, and half that time since the last time in the playoffs, being in first place for any period of time may be about as much as we can ask for at this point.

This. We know by the end of the season, 3/4 of the rotation will be on the DL with pulled labrums, and we'll have so many strikeouts that they'll put up a small windmill near home plate to make OPACY 'green' by powering it by Mark Reynolds' and Chris Davis' swing and misses.

This. Game consoles now aren't even as much game consoles as they are home entertainment systems. More time is put into music, movies and TV on my PS3 than gaming. This thing is wonderful.

I'm still mad that when we redid the uniforms, we chose red. YEAH BECAUSE MLB NEEDED ANOTHER RED TEAM.

red sox
reds
angels
cardinals
nationals
Indians, Twins, Rangers to an extent
Phillies
astros.

i went to game last year, Snakes and Nats, perhaps Reds, not really sure, and my oldest had to ask me which one was the good guys.

Say what you want about the purple and teal, that shiat was ours. now we're just another red team.

I like how it was said the players hated the purple and teal was part of the reason for the switch (the other was new ownership), and last year when they sported it the players we so far in support of wearing the classics they wore them the entire weekend instead of just a friday.

yup.

we went to the "offical" turn back the clock game, but the kids had a meltdown and we had to leave in like, the 2nd inning. lol.

but yeah......i alwasy say in these threads, i know i repeat myself a lot, but.....why another damn red team? bugs the crap out of me. they're my guys and all, but.....and it isn't anything against red as I'm appointed myself Fark's resident Commander-In-Chief of Redbird Nation GO CARDINALS but.....come on man. MLB needed another damn red team?

in nov 2001, the phoenix new times 10K finished at Bank One Ballpark (the race still happens but no longer finishes there). they had the infield roped off but the finish line was in what you'd call shallow center, right behind second base. keep in mind game 7 had been scarcely 1-2 weeks earlier.

after finishing, i went to the grass area, about 2-3 feet of the dirt, slightly to the left of second. measured it in my mind, punched the ground right about where Luis' ball hit over an outstretched Numba Two. YEAH!!!!!

in case you forgot (new window)
