so you're going to pay for her nannies to watch the kids and her housekeepers to cook and clean like your wife, right Mittens?

"Poor women who stay at home to raise their children should be given federal assistance for child care so that they can enter the job market and "have the dignity of work," Mitt Romney said in January, undercutting the sense of extreme umbrage he showed when Democratic strategist Hilary Rosen quipped last week that Ann Romney had not "worked a day in her life."

The remark, made to a Manchester, N.H., audience, was unearthed by MSNBC's "Up w/Chris Hayes," and aired during the 8 a.m. hour of his show Sunday."

Poor Mitt, married to a women with no dignity. Must be tough. Probably cries himself to sleep on a pillow made of thousand dollar bills.

2012-04-15 12:52:28 PM
To be fair, that's only the women who don't have husbands who can afford to keep them in luxery and out of that workaday world.

If you are going to get assistance, then you'd best get out there and earn that check...

2012-04-15 12:53:20 PM
So, what needs to happen is that Mittens wife needs to go be a stay at home mother in someone else's house, and take care of someone else's kids, that way she can get her dignity back, right?

While some like to think that Mitt changes opinion based upon who he addressing, I don't think that is true. I think he is expressing all opinions at once, and you only hear one at a time. Each observer could go to the same speech and hear different opinions being spoken.

Dog & Pony Show.

If we reelected Bush in 2004, we'll reelect Obama, no matter how stupid this bluster gets.

He's an out of touch white morman. He's unlike all of us. He doesn't get us and doesn't care about us. He just wants another merit badge on his sash.

I don't care how rich people live. Do whatever the f*ck you want, but don't lie to me about how hard your life is. Just choke on a cock.

"I wanted to increase the work requirement," said Romney. "I said, for instance, that even if you have a child 2 years of age, you need to go to work. And people said, 'Well that's heartless.' And I said, 'No, no, I'm willing to spend more giving day care to allow those parents to go back to work. It'll cost the state more providing that daycare, but I want the individuals to have the dignity of work.'"

So I'm clear on this, instead of just keeping poor mothers on assistance to allow them to rear their child, Romney wanted to spend more money on day care to get the mothers out of the house, separating them from their child, in order to "have the dignity of work"?

Seems to counter the family values portion of the right, as well as the fiscal responsibility portion, all while making him a hypocrite. Awesome.

No no no, you're looking at it all wrong. Under Rmoney's plan, since dignity is more important than all other considerations, he's looking to maximize dignity. So, the women who leaves her kids to work outside the home gains dignity, and the women who cares for the kids of the women who goes out of the home gets dignity, doubling the amount of dignity for everyone! Ain't it awesome!?

Rmoney: stepping on his dick a least twice a day and double on the weekends.

Yeah, someone finding Romney on the record equating work with dignity (implying that a stay at home Mom had none) a day after the Ann Romney fauxrage was almost inevitable, wasn't it?

For fiscal conservatives sure, this is obviously against their values. However remember that for social conservatives no government program is too expensive or too invasive if it involves punishing people they dislike, in this case poor people.

No, it all makes sense, see the most important thing in a child's life is two opposite sex parents. If a kid only has one parent, they're obviously going to grow up to be criminals or thugs or Democrats anyway, so the remaining parent should be pushed back into the workforce for the sake of society.

Thats why we should raise taxes on the poor to give job creators more tax breaks, so that there will be more minimum wage jobs for those single parents.

2012-04-15 02:17:59 PM
When I was teaching high school, one of the parents of my kids knew a thing or two about dignity. She worked three jobs to keep her kids off of food stamps. Trouble is, she was never home, and her kids pretty much did whatever the hell they wanted.

So, yeah. Dignity.

Yep, that's right. Parents have to "go back to work," because when they are at home taking care of their children they are not really working. And because they are not working when they stay at home, they have no dignity. That's exactly right.

He's never worked a day in his life, and neither has his wife. A person who has never worked a day in their life needs to drop the talk about 'dignity of work'... it comes off the same way as 'moral obligation to pay debts' that debt collectors and banks use when lying to customers about lending and repayment obligations.

Also, there's the issue of, 'It will cost the state more providing that daycare'............ cost more than what? cost more than welfare? How exactly is that going to endear him to 'slash all funding' voters?

Why not just train that mother on welfare to be a daycare provider for other people's children? Kill a whole roost of birds with one stone.

In Romney's defense: he was merely herping when he meant to derp. When you herp and derp as much as any Republican candidate, sometimes the herp-a-derp can run away from you a bit. Once he's on top of this derp, you can rest assured he'll be back with a new, unique herp backed up by lots of media hurr and durr.

And? Do you believe a person who has a child should never have to be employed a day in their life solely because they had a kid?

Do you believe in welfare for a woman raising kids to a degree where she'll never have to work? Because that would get pretty expensive pretty fast.
