I read that too fast and I was like "What does Will Farrel have to do with the Chinese Grand Prix?"

catastrophe averted: Is it raining in Shanghai?

Partly cloudy and 68 degrees currently.

I love it, Mercedes has their first pole as a constructor in 57 years.

Two Mercs on the front row, and Kimi and Kamui right behind them...has the makings of a hell of a start.

I wonder how many people behind the front row are thinking "You know, I could have a great run and possibly get the lead, except Schumacher is up there".

Hello, race fans. I had such a good time with you in Malaysia I've decided to watch this race with you again.

2012-04-15 02:39:08 AM
This is odd, I've been watching F1 for over 20 years, and I've never turned on a race having absolutely no idea who might win. There's at least six or seven drivers who have a good shot, and that many more who could do it.

In all seriousness, I'm not looking forward to watching the Mercs sink down the grid like an anchor was attached to the diffuser. I'm hoping Brawn isn't blowing smoke when he said he's got the tire problem sorted...

2012-04-15 02:40:02 AM
I...see what you did there?

2012-04-15 02:41:33 AM
Whoa, someone is going to start from the pits, didn't catch who though.

It's Brawn, he could turn a potato into an F1 car if you give him enough time. Then again so could Adrian Newey.

Vergne, I think. The scroll said they changed everything but the number?

Agreed on having no idea who will win. I suspect it's still McLaren's to lose, but I wouldn't mind seeing MSC back on the top step of the podium.

I'm thinking Webber has a good chance. He had a monster or a race last year here.

Yeah I saw that, missed the name though since I wasn't paying attention to the scroll.

Tsrwedge: I suspect it's still McLaren's to lose,

Might well be. Then again tough to know just how well some of the others teams, like Sauber, might do.

They have to wait for the grid to pass at the start before they can exit to join the race.

Chupacabra Sandwich: whats that mean

If you change anything major on the car, instead of starting from the starting grid, you start from the pits. According to the Twitter scroll they changed everything except for the number of the car.

In certain cases, the team can make a tactical call to change something, which means that they have to start on the pitlane rather than from the grid (where they qualified). Of course, this means that they're starting dead last, but many races have been won from the back of the pack.

Lord knows that I would, however it wouldn't be mean spirited. It was a cock up after all.

Also, no one has had a spectacular engine failure yet. Given how long they have to use the engines, I suspect that might start happening.

Among them, last year's Canadian GP -- with the winning pass taking place on the last lap, which started just 15-20 seconds before the two-hour limit. Had there been just one more lap under the safety car before or after the very long rain delay, that final lap would not have been allowed to happen.

I'm hoping this start is half as bananas as it should be.

Maybe, he just doesn't seem consistent enough yet to pull off a win. My bet is on Kimi...not sure why just a feeling.

Odds on Grosjean finishing the race? About as good as good as Massa overtaking someone on the front lap.
