I've never had Top Ramen. I usually just buy Maruchan.

Then again, I never actually make ramen noodle soup. I just cook the noodles, let them steep in the broth for a few minutes, dump out the broth and eat them with Parmesan cheese.

But I'm weird like that.

STFU, Subby, before the Cooking Channel produces Ramen Chef America.

I have never had either. I hate soup and I'm not that big on noodles.

the secret is boiling the noodles and dumping the initial batch of water. then only use half of the season packet. after it's done, turn off the heat, crack an egg into it and wait a few minutes before pouring and serving. you can break the yolk of the egg and it will mix with the soup to become incredibly delicious

Maruchan. Beef flavor. All the way.

Dude.

They're not noodles

They're fried noodles

if you're going to eat shiatty instant noodles, go to an asian grocery store and get good shiatty instant noodles.

I don't eat the stuff myself, but my son prefers Maruchan over Top Ramen.

I enjoy Maruchan Beef and Oriental flavors long time.

they don't seem very fried. They seem dehydrated. Just nothing appealing about them. If they were fried, I could eat 'em straight out of the package.

I love ramen. Even the cheap stuff.

Add some Hoisin and fish sauce, a liberal squeeze of Sriracha and it is really good, really quick.

I add veggies and whatnot if it is going to be a full production.

Wish I had the time and talent to learn how to cook a real bowl from the ground up.

and frozen burttiros.

i guess i ate like shiat but i was probably 15lbs lighter. oh sweet irony.

Dome: crack an egg into it

Love eggs in ramen. Also makes the meal much heartier.

we have canned soup about once a week, the day both my wife and i get home. often use canned chicken noodle soup as a starter, then add like, garlic / onions, maybe some leftovers to it, and frequently throw 1-2 egg whites into it.

Maruchan ramen. Hard boil two eggs. Dice a clove of garlic and a green onion. Start ramen and add flavor packet immediately along with garlic and onion. Bring to boil. While waiting for it to boil slice hard boiled egg. Once boiling remove from heat and put in bowl. Top with boiled egg and any left over green onion. yummy!

What do they do with the bottom ramen?

2012-04-14 05:44:47 PM
I take Maruchan, boil it for only like a minute or until RIGHT after they soften, dump the remaining water to the point where there's only a small coating around the rest, and put the packets in. Just slick, puffy, consistently tasty noodles.

Best ramen recipe ever: mix all the condiments in your fridge into some ramen, smear over bread (difficulty: drunk).

Nong Shim Shin is the best but it's not as common. Mostly found in Japanese or Korean grocery stores.

2012-04-14 05:47:26 PM
Of those two? Maruchan, all the way. Noodles are more or less indistinguishable, but the maruchan seasoning packets are better. Ofc, they're both still only vaguely describable as 'food', but add an egg and some cheese and they'll keep you upright.

/Yes, I am only a couple years removed from college, how can you tell?

3 packs Maruchan and a chicken breast grilled in lawreys, used to be my everyday meal back in the day because I was poor and couldn't afford much food after I paid for my drugs and alcohol

Top. Just the noodles with some of the chicken seasoning packet.

Maruchan is way better, as far as cheap packaged noodles go.

Maruchan all the way. And I CAN'T FIND IT ANYWHERE AROUND HERE ;_;

Whichever one's cheapest? I am not picky when it comes to budget food, and have been known to have Nissan and Maruchan in my cupboard at the same time. Of course, you can't go wrong with Nissan's shrimp-flavored cup noodles. With little freeze-dried shrimp, no less. That is some fancy budget junk food right there.

Maruchan

Get great big glass of ice cold milk, remove noodles from package.

Eat noodles dry and wash down with milk.

//follow it with a 3 hour nap and you have the perfect hangover remedy

It takes about 3 minutes to nuke rice noodles. Throw in a little pho paste and you've got something quite a bit better than either of the two choices we're supposed to pick from.

2012-04-14 05:53:13 PM
I remember that one is better than the other but I can't remember which. That stuff is farking toxic to eat, look at the fat content.

Neither one should be called "ramen". I make my own ramen though, it's better tasting and healthy.
