10:40 PM? So NYC is GMT -4? I thought it was GMT -5. GMT always confuses me.

The East Coast (and most of the US) is following daylight savings time so it's one hour ahead.

FYI, on the @TitanicRealTime it just hit the iceburg.

2012-04-14 06:44:18 PM
Considering the Titanic actually hit the iceberg 4 hours before it sank and 4 hours before it sank IS NOW, maybe this should get green lighted before 10pm.

Tweets just started coming from @titanicrealtime about hitting the iceberg..looks like they are doing it while everyone is stil awake.

Yeah, Titantic took I think 4 hours to sink. Something like that, it took a while.

Am I a bad person for laughing at that? Not a bad person for laughing at one of the dumbest shipwrecks in history, but for laughing at a Jackass joke?

The last time I saw something take that long to finish going down was this "sex on a first date" chick I went to the County Fair with about 4 years ago.

No. I didn't finish.

Yes, I was surprised she wanted me that badly.

Ships time back then didn't work as it does now. I believe the correct iceberg impact time should be 22:07 Eastern, which was 22:40 ship's time. (Ship's time was reset by observation of the sun to calculate local noon, and hence didn't differ in a tidy number of precise hours from GMT etc.)

The approximate time it finally sank was two hours forty minutes later, which would be 00:47 Eastern on the 15th.

True, but at least Buzz Lightyear was able to invent Tang before that tragic day.

Sort of off topic, but my aunt just went to see the Titanic in 3D and while waiting in line she told her friend that she couldn't wait for the part where the ship sank. Upon saying that, another woman in the line started freaking out and shouted "thanks a lot, you just ruined the ending!"

I wonder who helped Helen Keller get out? There's no way she heard the call to abandon ship.

They put Anne Frank in charge of getting her out of there, but she was hiding somewhere when all the trouble started.
