Oh, we're supposed to care what you think? Remind me again how many years you harbored Bin Laden?

What's really funny is how Fox News has joined the side of Amnesty International on such things after years of debasing them and deriding them on TV.

But I guess things change when a Democrat is in charge.

After re-election, Obama should come out in favor of war. Any war, any time. The Republicans will vociferously oppose it, and Obama will capitulate to them and issue the "Obama Doctrine" of always attempting multilateral diplomatic solutions before ever initiating combat. Bam, world peace right there.

Not really. Fox has been the self-serving and hypocritical propaganda arm of the Republican party for years.

Difficulty: The treaty would be filibustered in the Senate regardless of its contents, simply because Obama is for it.

We'll have to wait until after the 2014 elections for the Democrats to have enough votes to break a filibuster without having to compromise away damn near everything they want in the bill (or better, enough to change the rules so that someone putting up a filibuster has to get 40% of the Senate with him/her to sustain, as opposed to the status quo of the opposition needing 60% to break it with cloture -- Senate rule changes are at the start of the two-year session and require 67% to pass)

Pretty sure it's a simple majority. That's what the nuclear option was. They would formally close the session, and at the start of the new one, they would present a new set of rules sans filibuster and take a majority vote to approve the rules.

What did my comments have to do with race or religion? Did it ever occur to you that people may just seriously dislike Pakistan because it's a country that has nuclear weapons and simultaneously can't get a handle on their Taliban-sympathizing religious extremists that influence elements of the military and government, elements which also harbored Bin Laden in Pakistan for years?

No, it can't be that Pakistan is just a lousy country, I obviously must be a racist.

Uhh that's a typical shortening. Kraut, Beaner, Yankee, those are pejorative. Typical you are what you eat digs. All of the pejorative connotation in "Paki" comes from Pakistanis themselves creating and perpetuating a ridiculous shiathole. Compare most people in the world to a pakistani, particularly unfavorably, they'll likely have ample cause to be deeply offended. Pakistanis are people born in a sewer and intent on filling it with more shiat, the corpses of their daughters, and possibly eventually making it radioactive. Hunted to extinction by robots is a final decency better than they deserve.

I'm pretty sure Pakistan asks for a lot of those drone strikes through unofficial channels while acting belligerent about it in public. I'm also pretty sure that if America had unilaterally hated militia/terrorist groups hiding in the flyover states that were a legitimate threat to people in and out of the US, we wouldn't be in a position to turn Pakistan into rubble all that effectively.

But I'm just being argumentative, your point still stands. This shiat is "less than ideal" and I have my doubts as to how necessary/effective a lot of it is.

I dare say it's extremely common to dislike or even hate a country for its government and other people in power. The last 12 years haven't exactly encouraged people to think highly of "America" as an entity.

I don't take it personal if people think Americans are a bunch of backwards, warmongering crusaders when they look at the people we have elected and the stuff they have done in office.

Pakistan, like America, has some severe problems and it's okay to say they suck for it.

I'm not British, so I don't particularly give a fark what context British tabloids used it in the '60s and how the way they used it referred to more people than just Pakistanis.

Seriously, I consider myself quite left on the spectrum of just about everything. Racism is terrible etc. Can't a guy dislike a state and the people who run it without being accused of racism?

What race is "Paki?" anyways? Does it apply to Indians too or did until 1948 or so?

Drone strikes just seem to be another obstacle for the Paki government to get its shiat together, would rather drop a few incentives like banning US companies from outsourcing to Pakistan, ending visas to Pakistani citizens and restricting trade with Pakistan until the government met a few baseline standards on countering militants than randomly drone attack payroll employees of the Pakistani intelligence service.
