obamartins: As much as I hate Liverpool, and how hard it is to watch Andy Carroll celebrate in front of their supporters, this win all but assures NUFC a spot in European football.

4th is most definitely do-able. I'd say its theres to lose but a couple of tough 6 pointers in the run in.

Anyway, Carroll needs to pass Torres the number to his sports psychologist. Although I have a feeling Farnando is going to do something stupendous against Barca. No really.

Villa can make things very very interesting this afternoon.

4th is possible, but not probable.

North London Derby, my ass!

Sp*rs/Chelksi should be interesting. Maybe the stadium will collapse!

In other news, Hearts have beaten Celtic on a last minute penalty to set up a Scottish Cup Final derby.

Should be a good set of games today, too bad there are only two I care about.

D, try 619. That had a match on earlier this season if my memory is right. I remember because it's the area code for San Diego

Great dive by Ashley Young to draw the penalty against his former team

2012-04-15 11:11:26 AM
MANCHESTER UNITED PENALTY

Ashley Young takes a knock in the area, ref points to the spot, and WAYNE ROONEY send Shay Given the wrong way. 1 - 0 United.

2012-04-15 11:11:54 AM
As a United fan I'm not enjoying Ashley Young's recent identity crisis. He obviously thinks he's Greg Louganis.

I can't see the ref NOT giving it, but to say Ashley Cole made the most of it is being extremely generous. Was there a bit of contact? Yeah. Did Cole just dive his ass off? Ohhhh yes.

A minimum of contact with a ridiculous, splayed-leg fall. Anywhere else on the field and I don't think Cole would have broken stride.

Oh, man - I have become "that guy".
Ever have those nights where everyone you are out with goes from having a good time to being very, very pouty and sad-drunk? That happened to me last night. I went with some friends to the Atlanta Braves opening weekend game at The Ted. Drank for several hours, and as we were leaving (Braves winning!), all my friends just got really sad and wanted to talk about old problems of theirs and whatnot. Considering I was more in the mood for karaoke and potentially making some lady feel uncomfortable, It wasn't a pretty sight at all.

It was weird feeling like million bucks while everyone else around you wants to sit in a dark room by themselves.

A lot of pots calling Young a kettle at the moment.

Every one supports a big crack down on diving, until you point out their team does it as well.

/Start with crowding the ref and then diving

Technically there was contact but he left a leg in and really made a meal of it.

I've seen RvP take dives and called him on it. I didn't call for a big crackdown then or now, I just called it like I see it. I admitted that there was contact, but Cole made more of it than there was. You disagree with that assessment?

DANNY WELBECK makes it two, after no one on Villa decided to deal with Ashley Young's simple cross along the goal.

You are the rare exception. Take a look at the BBC text feed Link (new window) and all the bollocks being spouted by people who support players who are just as bad if not worse than Young. Its like listerning to Arsene "I didn't see the incident" Wenger

Yeah, Arsene is guilty of that. Every fan magnifies their opponents' infractions and downplays their own. I'm guilty of it, too, but I try to be objective when I'm watching a game that doesn't include my team.

D'oh, have no idea what I was thinking. No meme, just a fuzzy brain. Ashley Young.

Yup, I've been on both sides of it in fact. Typically leads to vomiting on at least one person's part.

Cech injured or being rested for Barca? I'm betting option 2.

Or I'm an idiot who can't read. Something must be wrong with Friedel for him to not be playing in this game.

While I'm still not certain how much I believe video technology can be practically implemented on a larger scale without disrupting the pace of the game, I would love to see it used to give retroactive cards and/or suspensions for both of these. Would it totally solve everything? Obviously not, but it would be a pretty healthy start in my opinion...

Cieran Clark has to come off. That's a serious head wound that needs treatment.

WAYNE ROONEY, with his last kick of the match, scores a nice slow roller after a deflection. Game over.

United 3-0. That's all, folks.
