I can still remember the serial number of the Les Paul Classic stolen from me 32 years ago in Gaithersburg. A traumatic moment in my young life.

You know you know too much about guitars when you automatically hear MR. TAMBOURINE MAN in your head when you see this pic.

I hope Tom gets the guitars back. And I hope he buys a new couch, that one's ugly.

Sucks for him but he has plenty more. That dude tours with more guitars than just about anyone.

$7,500 seems like a low-ball.

Saw them a few years ago at the Outside Lands festival, they were great. Played a roaring set, then came back out to do an encore with Steve Winwood. Petty was clearly blazed to the tits for the encore.

Why? He didn't do anything with them.

Serial 817203 if I remember correctly - 3/4" ding in the back of the neck and a small chip out of the back of the headstock.

I saw this referenced almost two days ago as a tweet by Jim Irsay.

That said, Tom Petty sucks. No, really, he does. So does his bands' "music".

yeah, that ding is still there, and the frets are a little worn now, and there is some buckle rash on the back (sorry about that).
How much did you say the reward is?

Hey, if it keeps Tom Petty from playing, $7,500 seems a small price to pay the thief for a job well done.

I know. I'm sure it's fine, but why not the Gibson?

This.

I remember about 12 hours after some trucker got hit in the head with a brick during the Rodney King riots, Tom Petty had released a song about how "We Need Peace in LA."

IIRC, the proceeds went to charity. It was still the epitome of AWing, though.

You've changed, man.. you never used to be this cynical.

This makes it more likely that people advertising cool guitars on Craigslist will get a visit from Tom Petty. Apparently it's a pretty regular occurrence.

//Is there a stolen guitar tracking app for phones?
