I tried doing your work for you, trying to support your claims from an internet source, but the sources are all over the place with the figures, all of which are misleading. Some say they are net tax eaters, but they did the math wrong (on purpose probably). Some say they pay 40% tax rates, but that's worldwide, not just US taxes and they don't say what the US rate was.

It seems that actual taxes paid to the IRS are hard to come by but it looks like effective US tax rates for oil companies are something like 10-20%. If you see something different, look at the source. "Progressives" will list negative numbers and "conservatives" will list 40-60%. There just doesn't seem to be an unbiased source for this information

It's my impression that the majority of Fark members are people who are open to clicking on all kinds of links to see where the Internet can take them. How else could you explain the weird and wonderful, the shocking and revealing, the obscure and fascinating mix of links which Fark provides?

I have learnt a lot of stuff which I never considered before through being a regular Farker, both from the articles AND from members' posts. And why would that be? Because to be the kind of people who are open to clicking on links and searching for deeper knowledge about issues, you are in the main people who are open to new ideas. People who are not afraid to look reality in the face and admit where you could be wrong.

In short, unlike conservatives who back themselves into a an ideological corner and refuse to go outside their own headspace, your exploration of new ideas gives you all a firm grounding in reality based considerations of what is really going on in the world.

Yeah... nobody's upset about medically necessary ultrasounds before procedures such as a cervical biopsy. People are upset about medically unnecessary ultrasounds being ordered before an abortion, as well as other laws such as forcing doctors to withhold vital health information if they think that somebody might want an abortion if she knew this info.
