They have slide shows which illustrate that they are easy lead idiots who make decision based on fear and hate. They admit it.

What group put out that slide?

The RNC

Exclusive: RNC document mocks donors, plays on 'fear'
(new window)

The RNC's own slides show they think Republicans donors are easily lead fear and hate mongers.

Nadie_AZ: OtherLittleGuy: sweetmelissa31: What kind of country do we live in anymore when a Congressman can't even make up facts without being ridiculed in public?

This town needs an enema!

I never understood the rhubarb line. In fact, in hindsight, I didn't understand any of the movie. Much like the GOP of today doesn't understand all the anger towards them. Their agenda makes sense in their heads! And when they are in doubt, ALEC explains it to them.

The problem is that the GOP has flipflopped on many of their positions on the sole basis that Obama wants some things that the GOP wanted 2 years ago, and anything Obama wants WILL RUIN THE COUNTRY.

On top of that, it hurts when they want to lower taxes on the "job creators" when we see unemployment at high levels after two huge tax cuts on the "job creators."

People can swallow only so much bullshiat until it all starts to come back up.

I think they think we're exactly as dumb as we think they are. It's manifest in the fact that they get elected.

If the constituents suggest ending oil subsidies and imposing higher tax rates on the rich will somehow save Social Security and Medicare then they are of the dumb-as-rocks variety of stupid.

There are none. Tax breaks are not subsidies. And they aren't specific to oil companies.

namatad: what_now: "How can you not know that, you're a medical doctor?" one woman replied.

Remember when Dr. Bill Frist "diagnosed" Terri Shaivo as being just fine?

isnt it illegal to diagnose someone without actually examining them ??

Yeah, but since Senator Bill Frist, MD diagnosed her on the floor of the Senate in a speech, he's immune from prosecution.

U.S. Constitution, Article I, Section 6, Clause 1. The "Speech or Debate Clause"

"They shall in all Cases, except Treason, Felony and Breach of the Peace, be privileged from Arrest during their Attendance at the Session of their respective Houses, and in going to and returning from the same; and for any Speech or Debate in either House, they shall not be questioned in any other Place."

A Representative or Senator cannot be prosecuted or sued for anything said in any official speech or debate made in Congressional proceedings. The only accountability they have is Congress itself, such as being censured or expelled. . .and that almost never happens.

2012-04-13 04:23:40 PM
"Think" is a strong word, here.

They've spent billions over the last few decades casting driftnets for stupid people, welcoming them in with promises of power and retribution.

They spent millions for demographic studies, focus groups, and neuromarketing studies to make quantify the level of their stupidity.

The GOP's strategy depends not on just getting working class people to vote for 1% policies, but to get them to *zealously* do so.

The GOP knows damn well how stupid their base is. They hand-crafted it to be that way.

I look forward to hearing about the new Democratic war on old people.

2012-04-13 04:26:07 PM
Meanwhile, I just read that our state has an $83 billion hole in funding for public pensions, because the Democrats decided back in 2005 to take a "pension holiday" and delay funding state pensions for a few years. So that they could fund vote-getting programs instead. Then the economy melted down.

So you have Democrats, who sort of know what they're doing, and they cynically mainpulate things for their own short-term political profit. And Republicans, who in spite of adulthood, college education, professional experience and years in the legislature, actually believe that Saint Reagan sticks has ass out of the clouds and farts rainbow ponies and makes everything beautiful.

For the last time, "Fark Liberals" means nothing. The joke started with "Fark Independants," who claimed to be independant but were fully in the tank for the Republican Party. Fark liberals, if anything, would indicate people who AREN'T liberals, but who pretend to be on Fark.

Given that about half the population still votes Republican I'd say the GOP doesn't just think their constituents are stupid, they know their constituents are stupid.

2012-04-13 04:31:48 PM

Bill_Wick's_Friend: I'm sure the GOP can win plenty of elections without a single vote from African-Americans, Hispanics, non-Christians, women, old people, people in big cities, people who live on the west coast, people who live on the east coast, immigrants and people with post-high school educations.

/cunning plan that cannot fail

...young people, poor people, middle class people, scientists, the unemployed, the uninsured, gays, lesbians, and bisexuals, Arabs...

Not a problem. The straight white evangelical Protestant male billionaire demographic is large enough to give them all the majority they need.

Just how stupid do Republicans think their constituents are?

As dumb as they are. It gets them in trouble when people smart enough to not vote GOP show up.

Either that guy is a liar or a total idiot. Personally I think it,s more of the former and a little bit of the latter.

I for one think we should focus on WHY health care is so expensive. To me that is just as important, maybe more so, than HOW to get more money to pay for it.

medicare part-D
By the design of the program, the federal government is not permitted to negotiate prices of drugs with the drug companies, as federal agencies do in other programs.

WHAT KIND OF DUMBASS writes a law where you are banned from negotiating prices?
sounds kind of like a no-bid contract

funny, countries with national healthcare pay BILLIONS less for drugs because the negotiate prices.

sigh
