"Iyoko Kijo

Well, everything's gone totally to hell. Ended up in ER for ulcers, blew $ for cable bill and gas to pay for prescriptions; laid up in bed for a few weeks, and don't have a dime to my name. It may be a while before I can get back online; can't even drive to store for for food. Hell, can't leave apt. for 2 weeks until the 3rd of May. AND they may turn my TV off. Thank you ulcer! DoomsDayAardvark: I gather that Archie got to watch his favorite movie today. My folks went out and got him a copy of Ice Age, which he will sit and watch very consistently. He is particularly fond of Skrat, and will sit about a foot from the TV, and watch intently whenever that animated rodent is on.

/cats are weird

My mom used to have a cat that was like that as well, wouldn't pay attention unless Scrat was onscreen. Used to come running into the room when he heard him. He passed away a few years ago on Christmas. Flipping through the channels when I got home later that night, Ice Age was playing. Needless to say, I watched and cried:(

Now mom has a cat named Scrat

Got a small movie of Tom defending his fort from Li-Ion attacks. The stuff all over the floor is cat nip, Li-Ion found a bag of it and tore it open, they have it scattered all over the floor of the sewing room.

Got taxes signed, cat care for wkend pd for, some of stuff in car brought in.
Too many itty bitty parts & pcs that won't stay where put, fall out either in car or onto ground.
Also was distracted by Ye Old LOLCats, & the Russian Scottish Fold K-whoever. Extra threads, oboy.
Also sounds like Haruko_ cd use another CARE pkg consisting entirely of chickie doodle soup, so as not to stir her ulcer up. That is not to be let lie like a rug!
Better get busy again & see what I can do to be useful.
Oh yah! You need to see this: 2 views of same pc of luggage, belongs to registry chair for just-ended contest..

It's the little things they do that wrap you round their fuzzy little paws...

I got home from work yesterday morning (night shift, 9P to 7A) and am greeted by the sight of Wimsey Whyte-Cat running up the sidewalk next to the house.
Can't hear him (I am still in the process of pulling into the driveway), but his mouth is moving and his tail is straight up; I am receiving a greeting/welcome home.
Open the car door and Wimsicle jumps into the car and onto my lap. Greetings, scritches and headrubs are exchanged, and I see Riktor trotting up the sidewalk from the back yard. He too jumps into the car in order to greet me.
"Outta the car, kids...I'm tired and you guys probably want breakfast."
I take Raven's carrier out of the car and let her out...and she promptly joins her clowder mates, jumping back into the car.

OK, this is getting silly. I want to go in, but Wimsey has made himself comfy in the back window and Riktor and Raven are checking out the front seats. Not going to leave the windows down; rain is imminent.
Time to get out the big guns. I go into the house and grab one of the kitty-treat jars.
Rattle rattle rattle ...
Riktor and Wimsey both know what this means- "IT'S KITTY-TREAT TIME!"

Raven hasn't been with us long enough yet to interpret the signal...but anything that will cause her big brudders to take off like rockets with feline "OH BOY OH BOY OH BOY!" noises and body language is probably worth checking out.
Once they're out of the car and occupied with PounceTM and GreeniesTM I quickly close the car door...
just in time to head off D'Artagnan. Better put a few more treats down...
These are graciously accepted (read: 'snarfed down lilke he hasn't eaten for a week') and D'Artagnan allows as how he could probably tolerate being picked up, petted and skritched.
BIG creaky purr...and he goes so far as to bestow upon me several kisses with his raspberry-colored scratchy tongue.
"D'aaawwww..." (read: 'melt')

Time to catch some ZZZ's; gotta work Sunday night. I am assisted in this by Riktor, Wimsey and Raven- curled up comfortably, quietly purring and beaming Sleep Rays on all frequencies.
Three to one- I haven't got a chance...but I did get a good day's sleep!

By all means, carry on!

kevinboehm: sherpa18: in2it: How to keep kitty out of flower pot

OK, I can't keep real plants because of you know who, so as ingenious as that idea looks, my first thought was that my bonehead white boy would get his head caught in the hangers and strangle himself. Please do not misunderstand me, I'm not crapping on your idea, it's just that you have to have lived with a cat who is not quite the sharpest tool in the shed (and that's putting it politely)

As an alternative, may I suggest buying bags of large rocks (from the dollar store - hey, I have to do this with my plastic plants). I can't say it would work with real dirt.... Just MHO, FWIW.

[i415.photobucket.com image 640x480]

I see a lot of people make similar comments about their cats, and it makes me wonder... what if we are just really over-estimating how smart cats are in general? I mean... if we keep finding "exceptions to the rule" this frequently... is the rule valid?

Let's see...
We wake up to an alarm clock so we can feed the cat, free up the bed and leave for the day.
They stop playing when they hear the alarm clock, grab something to eat and jump in bed for the day.

I'd say they're precisely as smart as they need to be. :o)

Yeah, the weather has been weird. But since we have had such a dry winter/spring, the humidity is only about 10%, so it's not bad (if you ignore the daily red flag brush/wildfire warnings), but it is supposed to cool down to the middle/high 70's for the rest of the week. Which Dragon is not pleased with, he likes hanging out on his cat tree in the warm breeze. I think the temperature change is gonna have him looking at me like this...
