1) 'Collection' apparently means '2' to subby. "Hey, look at the collection of tits on that girl!"

2) The collection of tits reviews are actually short blurbs from the full reviews.

3) The article is talking about how these reviews are including major spoilers of the movie and in one case, simply making things up that aren't in the movie.

4) Subby should go suck a collection of cocks.

/Never heard of this movie before now. Three years is an awful long time to sit on a shelf.

Titor's Time Machine: Three years is an awful long time to sit on a shelf.

I'm sure its release has nothing to do with the cowriter and one of the stars
being involved with an upcoming summer blockbuster.

Nothing at all.

I'm seeing this on Saturday, so I'm skipping the spoilery link.
But AV Club gave it an A-.

So if I'm understanding this, we're in the "backlash" phase of the hype-backlash-reverse backlash cycle? Say, how is The Raid faring? Are we hating that yet?

i don't really care for the horror genre, regardless of which backlash cycle it is in, so i probably won't click the link or hang around this thread, but i had to point out that this is a fantastic rant.

The article itself is also nearly illegable, written in a garbled almost nonsensical meaningless quote farm bevets would be proud of.

And yay for people making up things in reviews.

It was an MGM film - they kinda went bankrupt and a number of their films ended up in limbo waiting for things to settle. Also, Whedon's been a little busy lately.

Lost Thought 00: Spoiler - The sluts get killed

You're forgetting the most important aspect: how many times do they show their tits before they get violently dismembered?

The worst spoiler I saw was a trailer. I'm sure it didn't reveal all but enough to know the cabin wasn't a cabin, there was alot more to it than a sinister paranormal thing and was the hand of man, the video screens, the fact it was part of a larger complex etc was all revealed.

Saw the movie at SXSW and I hope the reviewers aren't spoiling the blonde making out with the taxidermy wolf scene.

Yeah, pretty much THIS. if that's the 'twist' they're referring to, they reveal it themselves. Oh well, it was only gonna be a Netflix rental anyway, still will be.

Not familiar with it, but here's a quote from Wikipedia:

Reception

The Cabin in the Woods has received a positive critical reception. Based on 63 reviews collected by Rotten Tomatoes, the film currently holds a 94% approval rating from critics, with an average score of 7.9/10. The reviewers for Spill.com praised the film, calling it a "game-changer" and saying it was on par with classic genre-bending horror films like Evil Dead II.[18]

Roger Ebert give The Cabin in the Woods 3 stars out of four.[19]

It's not, according to Ebert's review.

It isn't the 'big' twist but I didn't read the links after my mind tried to understand the horribly written article by Huffington Post.

I sure hope not. I enjoyed the book, but I think a movie would be unfathomably stupid.

Titor's Time Machine: /Never heard of this movie before now. Three years is an awful long time to sit on a shelf.

DRTT, so I don't know if it's been elaborated on, but MGM produced this way back when and held it back to do a post conversion into 3D. In that time, MGM ended up in deep financial trouble (on the verge of going bankrupt) and several of their films (including this and the Red Dawn remake) ended up sitting on the shelf because they didn't even have enough money to back a release, limited or wide. Years later the new regime at MGM decided to sell the distribution rights to some of their shelved films off and this one was snatched up by Lionsgate. So, shelved because of quality? Nope. Shelved because of dumbasses who are bad at budgeting.

I'm not sure House of Leaves would translate well to film. Part of that book's creepiness is flipping a page and saying "WTF?" at what looks like insane ramblings all over the place.

But yes, that is an excellent book :)

The cabin is actually an alien spaceship which is an experiment to see if humans would really act as retarded as they do in most horror movies.

So I had thought that the trailers completely spoiled the movie's plot, and it looked like the same old boring watch young people get horribly murdered garbage that I'm not at all interested in. But after reading through this thread I just went and read the Wikipedia page.

HOLY SHIAT. Sooooooooo not what I thought it was. I mean, you must be sitting there thinking you know what it is... for a while, but then it takes a turn.

Now I'm pissed I spoiled it and just went from "Yawn, not interested" all the way over to "OMFG I have to see this movie".

Only once. Although that same one has another event that another poster in this thread mentioned.

It's actually pretty good.

I forgot to mention:

Rex Reed must have slept through most of the movie because while he got one thing right, the other one ISN'T.

Did he watch some kind of hidden trailer and wrote a review based on that?

Rex Reed mostly doesn't watch the movies he reviews, from what I've heard.

That's lame.

But that leak/article is right - soon we'll have a new pic to go with the "Hit it like the fist of an angry god" meme. Whenever the first screen caps start appearing.

More like the fist of a hard to appease god. Maybe the hand is supposed to represent horror fans who demand the same scenario over and over again, and when they don't get it they smash everything.

I used to own and operate a small indie video store.
I work for Landmark theaters and Scarecrow Video in Seattle.
I have the theatrical poster of army of darkness tattooed on my left arm.
I watched well over 300 new movies in 2010 alone.

Cabin in the Woods is the best horror movie made in almost 20 years. And I can't say why because everything that makes so damn awesome, would be a spoiler. I watched it free at the Seattle premier last week because I get free movies.

I am PAYING for tickets for all my friends because it's that damn good and I want to watch it again.

I'm a theatre manager and just saw it. Fanf*cking crazy good.
