change1211: PredDawg8: Wow. Actually surprised Weber didn't get a game. Happy, but surprised.

If I remember correctly you loved the play.

Not really. My first reaction was, "Oh, shiat."

Then I refreshed the Fark thread and saw all the Red Wings fans whining and decided to troll them for some fun. Got the biggest whiner of the Sports tab to put me on ignore, apparently.

Truth be told, Weber and the Predators are damned lucky he's playing in Game 2.

Rev.K: swahnhennessy: Unless Calgary blows it up, a coaching change is just rearranging the deck chairs. They've put off the inevitable long enough already.

That's all the talk in Calgary right now.

Really, what we have now is the back end of the decision of the last 2-3 seasons where they played piecemeal and tried to find that guy to bring in to make the playoffs.

The conundrum is that Iginla is worth less than the Flames would need to part ways with him, so he's essentially stuck. Trading Kiprusoff would be utterly insane and probably be even less popular than trading Iginla.

The bright side is that a lot of contracts come off the books. Cory Sarich (THANK F*CKING GOD) Scott Hannan, Jokinen, Kostopolous and others and I don't expect any of them to be back.

The key is Iginla and this franchise owes it to him to honor whatever it is he wants to do. If he wants to leave, it would be bitter, but it would be for the right reasons and I don't think the fans would hold it against him.

Trading Kipper is exactly what the Flames need to do. They've been mediocre for several decades now, and I think we can agree they're nowhere close to being REALLY good, so they're better off being terrible. They would get a huge return for Kipper and could get some really nice building blocks. Without Kipper, they'd suck even worse, and get some good lottery picks. Five years from now, they have a shot at being a long term contender with a rebuilt core.

Instead, they'll keep Kipper and Iggy, sign some mediocre free agents, and have a ceiling next year of getting swept in the first round.

OK, so I think I've got my liquor cabinet stocked for this years playoffs.

Brandy: Paul Mason Grande Amber VOSP
Cognac: Landy VSOP
Vodka Vodak: Monopolowa (yes, really. Stoli-level goodness, $12 for a 750)
Bourbon: Woodford Reserve Distiller's Select; Four Roses Single Barrel
Rum: Cruzan 9 Spiced
Single-malt Scotch: Laphroaig 10 Cask Strength; Laphroaig 15; Bowmore 12

Anything else I'm really missing? Thoughts on what I do have? I'm not really a bourbon or brandy drinker (mainly a scotch person), but the brands I picked up (especially the 4 Roses) came very highly recommended.

This crap is good enough for the first few rounds, but go and get yourself some 25y/o Highland Park or Lagavulin for the Finals. You owe it to yourself.

Jesus, the internet makes it way too easy to know nothing about who you're talking to. You've been married for about as long as I've been alive.

And shepherds we shall be, for thee my lord for thee.
Powerplays hath descended forth from thy hand,
That our skates my swiftly carry out thy command.
And we shall flow a river forth to thee,
and teeming with goals shall it ever be.
In nomine patri, et fili, et spiritu sancti.

GO BRUINS!

I have never really truly *hated* any city's sports fans. Even oakland. But i have to say, without a doubt that boston really makes me want to hate their fans.

I lol'd. We really don't know much, do we, despite how we get on in here? I knew he'd been around the block a few times; one of the reasons I was able to accept their victory last year. I guess it's kinda the Fark version of smiling when your team's opponent's wily veteran finally gets to lift their first Cup (I remember hating, HATING Pronger in '07, but when Teemu got to the Cup, I couldn't help but smile mistily).

Oh, sorry. What I had meant is that is what I had BOUGHT for the playoffs. I've got a Bowmore 18, a Lagavulin 16, a Laphroaig 25, and an Oban 18 already in my collection for special occasions (home purchase, baby, tenure, either the Avs or the Jackets winning the Cup), and the Laphroaig 10 cask strength is my "go-to" scotch, so I've got about 4 bottles of it.

I'm mainly looking for feedback on the non-scotches; I know what I like there already, and I've got a reasonable palette (if I say so myself)...especially for Islays.

Rangers (Brooklyn Brown Ale) over Ottawa (Mill Street)
Bruins (Sam Adams) over Washington (Capitol City)
Blues (Schlafly's) over San Jose (Sierra Nevada)
Chicago (Goose Island) over Phoenix (Sun Up)

Do the beers in question need to be brewed in the city said thereof? Because I'd like to put in my vote for the Wachusett Larry. It's made in Mass, closer to Worcester, but it is absolutely outstanding. Most of Wachusett Brewing Company's beers are very good.

BLUES!

I am going to try to get my buddies and I to start a Daniel Bryan YES YES YES chant after every goal. Maybe we could adopt this as an after-goal thing. Like after the music stops after the goal, everyone keeps chanting YES YES YES until the puck drops, then a GOOOO BLUUUUUES! afterwards.

Go Blues and 'Yotes!
As far as the other match-ups go...
Broooons: I don't like repeats.
Caps: I think Ovenchicken is an asshole.
Sens: As a Sabres fan, I'm contractually never allowed to cheer for them (but I guess I can cheer for Alfy).
Rags: Callahan went to my high school, but they're still the Rangers.
