LALALALALA! I CAN'T HEAR YOU!

Oh, come on. It's not that loud out there.

I'm still holding out hope that San Jose will wake the f*ck up. I mean, all the pieces are there, all the talent.

They just don't want it. It's like they play a few minutes then decide to start trolling fans. Made them hard to watch this year. There's no drive, no heart, no will of the warrior.

Well, aside from Clowe.

Based on what?

The Wings outplayed Nashville last night. Two of Nashville's three goals were lucky bounces, and their power play - which was first in the league during the regular season - was completely impotent despite having a whopping seven penalties called against Detroit.

Rinne kept the Predators in the game last night. I don't know if the Wings will win in the end, but I sure as hell wasn't impressed by what I saw from Nashville last night.

You mean like Hudler? Put Helm on the 2nd line with Z and the 2nd PP unit and he would. But that's not his job. His job is to be on the 3rd line, to shut down opposition scoring, and to anchor the PK. On the same line with the same sort of ice time last year.

Helm put up nearly IDENTICAL numbers on the 3rd line this year as Hudler last year.
(10-27-37 with a +/- of -7 for Hudler in 73 games last year vs. 9-17-26 with a +5 for Helm this year in 68 games)

hulk hogan meat shoes: Pituophis: hulk hogan meat shoes: Darren "Go fast and do nothing" Helm? I can't count the number of times his speed leads to a breakaway and he harmlessly puts the puck into the pillows. Dude has no hands.

Are you arguing that because he doesn't finish, he brings nothing to the table? Did you see the three monster hits he threw last night before the fluke injury? Do you not see how often he kills of penalties almost single handedly? Do you not see how he wears down the opposition on the forecheck? How he's second only to Datsyuk in stripping the puck in the neutral zone? Helm works his ass off every night he's in the line-up. I can't ask anything more from a guy on my favorite team.

On the other hand, there are guys like Hudler who is a defensive liability, who rarely gets his hands dirty, who takes shifts/nights off whenever he feels like it, who coughs up the puck at nearly every turn, who makes horrendous decisions both with and without the puck, AND IS ALWAYS FARKING OFFSIDES!

In the cap era, you can't have a roster full of Datsyuks, as much as you might like. You have to have role players, and Helm is a great one. It ain't his job to score. It's his job to wreak havoc with the opposition, and he does a hell of a job and at an affordable price. Drives me up the wall that because he's not a goal scorer he's viewed as useless. Farking ridiculous.

I never said he wasn't valuable. I just get sick of him not being able to finish on the breakaways his speed creates. Guy could have had a 20 goal season if he tried.

He'd also have a bit more of a cap hit in that case and likely not be considered "depth". Helm's a great role player who creates opportunities for others and draws penalties with his speed, not to mention the other attributes he brings to the table. He fulfills a similar role to Draper, who also had hands of stone (although Helm isn't quite the faceoff specialist nor has he ignited the team by getting his face bashed in by being boarded right in front of the wings bench....Drapes was much better at both of those!). He is the type of 3rd/4th line player though that every team in the league wants (I bet most fans would love to be able to slot Helm in on their third line as well).

See ya around 7.

2012-04-12 04:04:42 PM
Only way the Sens take the series is if the Rangers take tons of penalties. Its a possibility, the Sens are fast and the Rangers are in the bottom of the league for penalties. That could lead to a lot of grabbing and hooking (giggity).

Otherwise, Ottawa'll be ground into a fine paste over the course of a few games.

So I just caught the game highlights for the games last night. My first thought is, if Ryan Kesler were named "Tomas Holmstrom", there's no way that the Canucks first goal counts. I'm also not sure how the Flyers' second goal went in - that was a crazy sneaky shot. Third, I'm not sure who had the worse game last night: the officials in Nashville, or the officials in Pittsburgh. I'm going to go with the officials in Nashville, if only by the sheer volume of ridiculous calls made. Of course, as someone said earlier, the only consistent thing about playoff officiating is the inconsistency.

Jubeebee: RminusQ: Pituophis: No suspension, $2500 fine for Weber's attempt to injure on Zetterberg. Which I predicted in the thread last night. Guess I got something right this post season.

Best watch out, Crosby...it's open season on star players after the horn has sounded.

Shea Weber had best get the shiat kicked out of him tomorrow night. I might actually root for Detroit then.

Full disclosure: I'm a lifelong Blackhawks fan who's hated the Red Wings since I stayed up past my bedtime to watch the 1995 WCF series/war. I was rooting for the Predators all night, and I was pretty happy as things were winding down that DET was in for a grind.

But that shiat by Weber was really dirty. I may hate the Wings, but I do respect them. I'm pulling for Detroit in 6 now. I hope The Franzen devours Nashville.

wtf, most preds fans i know would be fine with weber getting punished, but since the the NHL is inconsistent you gotta go full rage mode and hate the entire team?
