But then you'd have to buy Legos. It's much easier to cut wood into little 4x8 blocks, paint them, and glue it together.

Am I missing something? I mean it is not bad. I fail to find anything 8bitty about it and more closely aligned with mosaic or those "paint stain glass" craft kits you get. Maybe it works better with Mode 7 or something ;)

No, you're not missing anything. Me, I'm sick to death of people making things blocky and calling it 8-bit. It's lazy, it's inaccurate and doesn't give justice to the real 8-bit aesthetic.

seems like 8 bit is becoming a blanket term for anything low-res, 80s or old school ... at least when used by non computer people

Oh so it is like dubstep when LemonD did it back in 2001? I nearly shat myself when someone tried to call that new music. I'm glad we all reached a consensus among the onion belters around here that it is not 8 bit and I'm not missing anything lol. If just one of them had some soul or non polysyllabic "spatial awareness" garbage behind it, it would be nice. And will Shepard Fairey just rape and kill Chomsky so that we can just be rid of those two hucksters as well?
