I once worked with someone who absolutely believed the one about the Ohio Players. He bought that album and played it over and over, trying to pick up audible clues that would reveal 'the murderer.'

/yeah, he did a lot a drugs. It was the '70's. We all did drugs.

LandOfChocolate: I don't see the munchkin.

I never saw the munchkin. Even with the VHS we had when I was a kid, my dad pointed it out and I said "What? Behind the peacock?" He and my brother were insistent that it was a suicide but I couldn't unsee the bird. My dad denies ever thinking it was a suicide now.

So they mention Mythbusters in the poprocks slide, but not in the Goldfinger slide? The one that BOTH Adam AND Jamie got painted totally gold for? And then Adam submitted to a rectal thermometer and shaved all the hair off his body? It's a classic episode because hey, who DOESN'T love seeing Adam Savage made uncomfortable?

"At the time, it was believed that we breathed through our skin..."

I don't think anyone in the 1960s believed that people literally breathed through their skin. The concept/myth of 'skin suffocation' does not = "breathing through our skin."

On some of the threads on IMDB they say that the kid was trying to signal that he needed to go to the restroom...There's no way that his gestures were "I need to pee" His face has this weird pervy look to it.

The way the camera pans right after he does that, I always assumed he was relaying a signal to the camera man from the director.

/the pervert theory is less boring.

2012-04-12 03:38:03 PM
Exactly. Because if he was trying to signal someone for a pee break he would have been looking somewhere else and not at Elizabeth Shue. You can clearly see when his beady little eyes shift up (after being caught I'm assuming).

I always heard that the Goldfinger death was about hyperthermia, not some magical inability to breathe through your skin. The gold body paint would make you overheat. Which made at least a little bit of sense.

Also, Mama Cass, who was the land whale of her day, would not be considered unusually large today.

What lie? The truth behind that one is pretty well known. Hell, I knew the lady responsible for booking acts at the Pan Am center and she refused to book them after that very issue had been brought up by the band on a tour.

LandOfChocolate: I don't see the munchkin.

I heard about the dead munchkin legend before I ever saw the movie. So when I first sat down to watch the film, I waited for the particular scene and tried to see where this so-called swinging dead munchkin was. And then, without warning, I thought I saw it...just not in the scene people says it is in. There's one shot of Dorothy and Scarecrow standing side by side as they talk to Tinman, and right in between their heads I thought I saw something "swinging" behind them. The shot didn't linger long enough to show it clearly, but it looked convincing enough. And it definitely looked more convincing than the "original" scene where the dead munchkin is supposed to appear.

Only when I looked at that scene again did I see it was just a bird moving its neck.

The only reason why ridiculous thing was famously in the contract was because it was their canary in the coalmine. Because of the pyrotechnics and equipment they used in their shows they had a number of specs that had to be followed to the letter for safety and legal reasons. If they showed up to a venue and see that the brown M&Ms weren't acknowledged then they'd have grounds to cancel for fear that their specs weren't followed.

Was going to say just this. Very clever. And- I believe actual riders have been found with this. Smoking Gun probably has one.

Which is my point. That is what Dave has been saying for years, hence, he is not lying.

Hasn't that been debunked? Didn't they just recently say they did that just to be dicks, and they could?
