Meat Loaf isn't even that big nowadays...

Standard fark GN'R thread:

Sex Pistols tell the hall to F-off: "Good on them"
Black Sabbath says they dno't even f'in care about the Rock hall: "Good on them"
Axl, in a polite, well-thought-out letter, declines the invitation, but says "let the other guys have their moment": He's an irrelevant asshole.

My the butthurt is strong when it comes to this band. Did he secretly cause cancer or something? It's his personal choice to attend or not attend. Really, he made the right decision, and if it was anyone else the fanboys here would be worshipping him for sticking it to the hall that hasn't inducted Rush.

I'd turn down Lean Cuisine too. That shiat looks gross.

Doctor Jan Itor:
/Fark the R&R HOF

Don't even get me started about how EFFED the R&R HOF is, I mean they have POP acts like Madonna in it, and there are influential rock bands like Deep Purple, KI$$, Rush, Judas Priest,Iron Maiden, Motorhead,Steppenwolf,Motley Crue, Blue Oyster Cult, Thin Lizzy, and Bad Company that are not in it.

Perhaps even bigger than the bands NOT in it are the bands that have been inducted in the last 5 or so years who should have been inducted like 20+ years ago like Alice Cooper, Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Eff the HOF, they are truely the biggest steamer there is in Cleveland.

matthew_tray: BTW, I think Green Day could rock a mean version of It's So Easy, but that just me.

If it only has 3 chords they could I'm sure. ;-)

With all their recent inductees (most of them being rap groups) who the fark would care about the rock & roll hall of fame anyways?

Rose is holding out for his induction into the Dinner Roll Hall of Fame.

stoli n coke: sparkeyjames: Axl is just farked up in the head. He spent to many years dancing with Mr. Brownstone.
Pretentious douchbag does not even begin to describe him. I can remember the stories
in the music press on GnR when Axl would not go on stage until he felt ready (read drunk n farked up enough)
sometimes an hour or more past the scheduled start time. That kind of crap is what pissed Slash off and
led to GnR (the best lineup) breaking up. Slash knows it's the fans that make you and it's the fans that can
break you by ignoring you. It's something Axl refuses to understand.

Actually, Axl was the least intoxicated member of the band. The late starts, early finishes, and cancellations were just him being an asshole.

Slash used to be so farked up that, according to his book, he started wearing leather pants all the time just because he'd get so drunk that he'd piss himself and leather pants were easier to clean off.

If Axl was holding up the show just to get farked up backstage, the rest of the band would have likely joined him.

Strange reason to adopt leather pants. If you piss your jeans, into the wash machine, hour and 10 minutes later, good as new. Leather has to be dragged to the dry cleaner. But then again, maybe what he meant was that black leather wouldn't be quite as obviously wet, and being in GnR at the top of their game, there were probably other people taking care of details like clean clothes.

He's been dancing with Mr. Coldstone.

AliceBToklasLives: Meh. Rock and roll died in 1953. It's been imitators and hucksters ever since. Time to get over it.

You sound old and fat.

Nothing more pathetic than a Rock-N-Roll Hall of Fame in the first place--too subjective.

Why not have a Movie Hall of Fame while they're at it?

stewbert: I'm the first to mention that perhaps Axl just doesn't want to go to Cleveland?

Well-played.

Dammit!

So he's not attending because he thinks if he plays a few songs with his old band mates that it will undermine what he's doing with his current band? That people would be less likely to come out to see GNR now?

Whatever. The guys should go up there and play with Myles Kennedy singing. He's better than Axl anyway.

2012-04-12 03:34:59 PM
I find nothing wrong with what Axl said.

I'm not a big GnR fan, but it's his life, and if he doesn't want to play with the old lineup that's his deal. He said on That Metal Show that he's happy with his current lineup.

The RnR HOF is such a joke anyway, I'd like to start seeing artists turn it down out of respect for the legends who aren't in it.

Came looking for Izzy & the JuJu Hounds, am leaving disappoint.

/Izzy was the shizzy - no Izzy, no GnR
//saw GnR very early on in a small hall, and Izzy & the JJH on their one tour, and both killed it
///RRHoF is a joke

I disagree on Kiss... sold a bunch of albums, hugely influential, I know, I know. Now sit down and actually listen to one of the records. Kiss's music farking sucks! Also think Cheap Trick belong in before a few of the bands you mention.

My 3 biggest snubs in my mind, in order are 1) Rush, 2) Deep Purple, 3) Cheap Trick,

PickinWhiskers: P-Money All $tar: what's the Dumbass tag for, Subby?

because I totally agree. Subby is a retard.

I have a feeling more bands will start doing this.
when and if RUSH and KISS get nominated, they'll probably both decline and do a world tour together, again.

You think Gene Simmons would decline? No way.

Gene will sue them for illegal use of his likeness and the Kiss brand.

I like Green Day and I agree.

Most GNR songs would be too much for most 3 piece bands.

Note that he mentions every former member of GnR except Slash by name? It's been 19 years since Slash played with GnR, and Axl just can't let it go. Slash shows up on time, plays a solid show, and is polite and respectful to his fans. Axl shows up at 2am, blames it on everyone and everything except himself, forgets the words to his own songs, and acts like an ass to everyone around him. It's little man syndrome is what it is- Slash always has been bigger than Axl, and always will be. I'm not even a huge fan, but I recognize talent when I see it.

I don't even really care for GnR too much but anyone saying Green Day should cover their songs can please go DIAF. GnR was at least a real farking band with actual talent.

...and the song mentioned is too low for Billy Joe's voice. He could probably sing it, but I think it'd just sound like he has a cold like he always sounds. His tone is a little more pleasant in his high range (When September Ends).
