urban.derelict: So many people with sour grapes over the greatest rock n roller of all time refusing to be inducted into someone's exclusionary group.

/and now know-nothings are berating him for refusing induction into the RRHOF

Too bad there is not an Ice Cream HOF. I bet he'd accept an induction into that.

He's thrown a goddamn fit for 20 years. He's a spoiled, whiny baby. "What, Slash is gonna be there? Fark it, I'm not going." Well good, fark you Axl, because you weren't GNR anyway.

I'm not a big fan of Slash's solo music, but saw him last time he came to town. The few GNR songs he played sounded better without Axl, and the show was pleasantly surprising.

Actually, I think it's rather fitting & perhaps Axl's best decision in recent memory. He spent the better part of 20 yrs pissing on the legacy of the band he helped create. He spent the better part of 20 yrs pissing on the fans that made him rich. He spent the better part of 20 yrs pissing on the guy that made Guns N' Roses such a dynamic force. And as it turns out, he was completely terrible at it.

GN'R is a 1st ballot HOF band. People still want to see them perform at the induction cermony. Appetite is still arguably the greatest American hard rock album. And Slash is a rock icon. All of these things happened & endured despite Axl's best efforts to undermine & crap all over the band.

Axl was an amazing frontman in his day, but the reality is that GN'R is going Into the RRHOF in spite of him, not because of him. It's quite apparent he can't that truth & frankly the RRHOF will be a better place b/c he of that fact.

BTW, I think Green Day could rock a mean version of It's So Easy, but that just me.

Meh. If GnR influenced other bands, I don't see how that's a good thing. There wasn't a single farking original thing or idea in GnR. They were a combination of Aerosmith, the Stones and Zeppelin and were never lose to as good as any of them.

Of course, I probably would like them better if I didn't think Axl Rose was one of the worst singers ever, a horrible diva, an entitled prick and just a generally shiatty human being. I don't know why he stands out as such in the world of rock and roll, where assholes are a dime a dozen, but he does. Nothing he has ever done has impressed me.

To each their own! It's not like the R&R HOF is important or has any credibility.

P-Money All $tar: what's the Dumbass tag for, Subby?

because I totally agree. Subby is a retard.

I have a feeling more bands will start doing this.
when and if RUSH and KISS get nominated, they'll probably both decline and do a world tour together, again.

You think Gene Simmons would decline? No way.

He's a lead singer of a rock n roll/glam band. It's a prerequisite to be all of those things. I don't know what makes you so butthurt.

It's not like the R&R HOF is important or has any credibility.

Hey, finally something that's agreeable to most people.

Appetites a good album, but really,,, can people stop regurgitating this greatest album of all time crap? If you wanna talk about goat American albums at least bring up VH1 or 2 or Aerowsmith, or Alice n Chains or fark the doors. Not farking G&R. They weren't that good, and mostly because of Rose.

Good job proving you have no clue what should qualify a band for inclusion in the RRHOF.

If you can't look past your opinion of the band's music to see the impact they had on the genre then you really are not qualified to participate in this discussion,

Something strange about her face. Don't get me wrong: I am a big fan of the slim body/nice natural jugs look; but there's something odd about her face. Having said that; I wouldn't kick her out of my dutch oven.

And I think Axl is a prick and one of the best rock n' roll front men of all time. Freddie Mercury is better; but only Robert Plant is close to Axl in terms of dynamics.

Axl is just farked up in the head. He spent to many years dancing with Mr. Brownstone.
Pretentious douchbag does not even begin to describe him. I can remember the stories
in the music press on GnR when Axl would not go on stage until he felt ready (read drunk n farked up enough)
sometimes an hour or more past the scheduled start time. That kind of crap is what pissed Slash off and
led to GnR (the best lineup) breaking up. Slash knows it's the fans that make you and it's the fans that can
break you by ignoring you. It's something Axl refuses to understand.

Mugato: SockMonkeyHolocaust: I don't understand why you'd want a reunion. If they got back together, you'd see GnR in a gargantuan stadium. Stay home, put their albums on "mix" and flick the lights on and off. It's the same as any of those bigdick stadium tours and you don't have to overpay for food or wait in line to go to the bathroom. You can even spill beer on yourself if you need to recreate the experience.

I've been to 3 GNR concerts including GNR/Metallica and I disagree. Guess you had to be there.

Hasoose Farking Kee-rist. THAT had to be one amazing vortex of suck. Not even with a gun to my head. To each his own.

Actually, Axl was the least intoxicated member of the band. The late starts, early finishes, and cancellations were just him being an asshole.

Slash used to be so farked up that, according to his book, he started wearing leather pants all the time just because he'd get so drunk that he'd piss himself and leather pants were easier to clean off.

If Axl was holding up the show just to get farked up backstage, the rest of the band would have likely joined him.

farkingismybusiness: Of course Axl Rose refuses to be inducted to the Rock and Roll HOF. If you think he is going to end this civil war and not beat a dead horse, you're crazy. He has no patience to live and let die and would rather be left estranged.

It's so easy to wish for yesterdays and trust me, you ain't the first, but as long as Axl thinks Slash is "out ta get me" a few bad apples will spoil the whole damn bunch.

So fine, get pretty tied up with your bad obsession about the whole HOF thing, it's alright. Just don't cry to me about it.

If he does this again in 14 years, you'll be singing the shotgun blues.

GnR isnt in the same league as Zep, but I like them better than the Stones and farking Aerosmith? Are you serious? While appreciating their pre-rehab shiat, moderately, I still think Appetite is better than ANYTHING Aerosmith ever did. Sorry.

While many think Rose should look at the HoF induction as nothin' but a good time, I think he sees it more as every rose has it's thorn. I'm sure at times Axl feels like a fallen angel but that's a cat who is always going to cry tough. Some might think Axl should get back to the rocking horse of GnR music of the past, but he might want that as much as I'd want a hobo to talk dirty to me. I wont forget you Axl, but I know your best songs are behind you.

Green Day has been known to do a semi-mocking version of "sweet child" at their concerts as a lead-in to some other song, but I'm guessing the rest of the band will have at least some sense of humour about it. And as long as Billie Joe Armstrong doesn't try and go into vocal gymnastics he could probably fill in quite well on most of the songs since that'll probably be the plan. I can't see "It's so easy" being the song, despite being in Armstrong's range - not TV friendly enough for RRHOF.

But yeah, agreed, Axl bowing out is a good thing, just not for the reasons he thinks it is. Basically it means the drunk uncle nobody wanted to show up had a hissy fit and bailed, and everyone else gets to breathe a sigh of relief.
