While I usually try to play devil's advocate in rape threads, I'm somewhat conflicted on this one.
On the one hand, who would "cry rape" as a result of a disagreement about soccer?
On the other hand, who would engage in a soccer debate with their rapist after being raped?

Also, why would anybody waste perfectly good fried rice by throwing it at their rape victim? White rice, maybe.

Cuz then he almost might have had a case. Fried chicken, not so much.

The one I have fond memories of was in Tempe, around 1995. They must have tried Arizona and then gave up.

Oh, that has nothing on Liquid Plumber's Double Penetr....er....Impact commercial in terms of suggestiveness.

I'd go so far as to say it's beyond suggestive and just downright dirty. Not that I'm complaining. Those guys could snake my drain any day.

I dunno. You get one gal accusing you and suddenly every other whack job you ever met comes out of the woodwork. None of my rapes were ever bring them home for chinese take out and football talk, rape them, call them a cab and then send them home with leftovers. OK, maybe there was that one, but the food was in lieu of a cash tip.

Even if she was suggestively licking that chicken and winking at him, why would that be a defense against him raping her?

For that matter, why would someone rape someone who was flirting with them? If the chick likes him, he's halfway there already. Isn't that kind of doing it wrong?

2012-04-11 03:19:59 PM
Quite a logical leap. "Look at the way she is eating that chicken... obviously it's okay to slap and tickle her even if she says no."

Because she was asking for it, duh.

I think the defense is "it wasn't rape," not "rape is ok in some situations."

If you have questions, you might try reading the article.

I seem to remember an Iced Tea ad that (perhaps predictably) did not run for very long. Back around 1991-1993 time frame. A group of women are at a table talking about god knows what and all have these bottles of iced tea. The attention-getting part was the way they would wipe their mouths off after taking some eager sips/gulps from said bottles (sort 'wipe red lipsticked mouth with back of hand and drag down the chin a bit" motion). I don't think this was a case of me 'reading into' the ad, it was pretty damn obvious what image the agency was shooting for.

Well, if it was like he grabbed her in an alley after watching her eat chicken, I would agree that it isn't a defense/excuse. However, this was just part of a longer story of how they first met, with her being single at a bar, talking with him and a friend, meeting up with them days later, going to his apartment for drinks, etc.

I think it is a legitimate factor in a defense in the sense of supporting a story that the relationship had sexual overtones, especially if the flirting is corroborated by the friend.

I think in the context of being accused by multiple women it makes me more suspicious of the guy. But I think this sort of flirting (as the basis for a subsequent date) does complicate the whole determination of guilt.

This sounds more like a bar pickup gone horribly wrong. The "disagreement" happened after the "vigorous" sex.

It would be really interesting if it turned out that all his accusers know each other, and that the chicken incident was just the latest in a series of set-ups. There's just something suspicious about a strange woman coming into a restaurant and targeting with suggestive behavior someone who's there with someone else.

Not saying it's likely that it's a conspiracy, but it would be interesting.

Most likely is that he just hasn't learned not to stick it in the crazy.

Because it's hard to say "choking the water buffalo" in this context without bursting into hysterical laughter?
