Look.. I hate these goons as much as everyone here.. but is that an offense? Were his pants just sagging, or was he showing actual skin?
I work with people in a professional environment that have their pants falling off their butts, totally unintentionally mind you, but as bad as the street kids look. Hell, just yesterday one moran had his polo tucked into his underwear, which were visible because he wasn't wearing a belt.

I don't know that saggy pants are cause for jail time, sure.. they let us know who to avoid in life..but not jail-worthy..right?

I'm inclined to agree with you (much to my surprise), although there was a story on Fark not long ago about a man who lost weight while being held in jail and was not allowed to wear a belt at his trial, which caused his now-too-large pants to fall down in court. If the defendant had little or no control over his wardrobe (which again may not apply to this particular case), then it would seem unfair to punish him for any wardrobe malfunction.

I'm a white guy. About ten years ago I was busted for DUI. My hair was down to my ass and I had a long, scruffy beard at the time of my arrest. When it came time for my court appearance, I cut my hair nice and short and trimmed the beard to be somewhat presentable. The Judge was impressed with my "transformation" and gave me the minimum time to serve.

It pays to clean up and wear your "Sunday best."

Judges do dumb shiat every day in every way. I have always found it incredible that our system can literally determine the fate of many people based on whether or not somebody is in a bad mood or if he/she got laid the night before. If this judge had just won $1M right before the trial of this kid would his pants have bothered him? Not no, but fark no. So why can he decide three days in jail because he's grumpy? Don't even get me started on the asshat judges that run family courts.

Seriously, if you're showing up it court in Jeans you're at least stupid.

Go down to the salvation army at least and pick up an ill-fitting suit. Show that maybe you care about your future. Your dress makes a difference, and showing that you've made some effort to look presentable is part of your defense.
