I'll be at that game. And as much as I love Tito, he's absolutely right to not be there. Good for him.

Management of this team reminds me of the new Three Stooges movie - none of it good.

Good for him. I was disgusted about the way they treated him. I have numerous articles of clothing with the Red Sox logo on them and since all that went down I can't bear to put them on. A couple of hoodies, a wind-breaker, a sleeveless shirt, a number of T-shirts...all worthless trash.

I've only seen maybe an inning of their season so far and that's because I'm not going to leave the room just because somebody happens to have the game on. And I'm somebody who usually watches every single game.

I thought about finding another team to follow, but maybe I'm just done with baseball.

2012-04-11 12:44:59 PM
I imagine the Sox were secretly fine with him saying no. A standing O for Tito with the team 2-10 or whatever at the time would prove a little embarrassing.

I miss the days when I started going to Tribe games in the nineties and you could go to a meaningless game on a Wednesday in May and have 40,000 in the stands. Times have changed, man.

And this just takes the cake right here:

"I made it pretty clear to John Henry. When I told Larry that, he said, 'Well, I haven't talked to John about it.' I said, well then how f*cking important could it be?"

Well something needs to give. I've been watching the Jays/Sox series and it looks like half of them don't even want to be there. Hell the called third strike that closed last nights game was wide by two inches and Ortiz barely shook his head. The ump was even expecting some sort of chatter and looked shocked when he didn't even get a peep.

It okay, because John McNamara and Roger Clemens will be nice fill ins.

Just, no.

I've always wanted to find a reason to dislike Terry Francona since he managed the enemy, but I could never come up with anything. This just confirms that he's an admirable guy who was unfortunately associated with the kind of franchise that would smear the reputation of the best manager they've had in 9 decades on his way out the door.

And it was Lucchino who was the Globe's source, you can bet your last dollar on it.

I'm sure most batters forget where the pitch was by the time that guy calls a strike.

My theory is simple: Larry leaked it on John Henry's order. He can't throw his boss under the bus. And quite simply, this team is starting to remind me of the early 80's Yankees, when they still had a lot of the talent from the old days but still couldn't pull it together mentally to go all the way. Not saying that Lucchino and John Henry are the split personalities of Steinbrenner or anything, I'm just saying that the mental composition of this team is farked and it's gonna take a while to fix it.

any reason Booby V is leaving Lester in after 115 pitches and (now) down 3-1 in the 8th?

Ugh, true enough. I swear I saw Arencibia nudge him a few times.

1. Terry Francona was the best manager for the Red Sox in the history of the franchise. This is a shame. On that note, the Red Sox are bigger (in Boston) than who owns and runs them. The man will deserve a party at some point, and I'd be willing to throw it myself if he doesn't want the current owners and current/former management involved.

2. There is a lot of distracting nonsense going on in Red Sox nation right now. So much that I'm wondering if I'm purposely being diverted away from something else being knocked off the front page. Any news in Liverpool or with Fenway Rausch racing that we should be enraged about?

I'm guessing the 5 or so years he managed in Japan.

As a Yankees fan, I say good for Francona. Your team sucks donkey nuts for 85 years, this guy comes in a brings you not 1 but 2 World Series in 4 years. He not only should still be on the job, he should have his balls washed by the Red Sox front office every day for the rest of his life.

But not only did the Jew screw Francona and make him a scapecoat, he screwed the Red Sox and took off too.

Well at least he didn't go to LA and write a tell-all book.

I get the feeling that if Larry Lucchino called, most Red Sox fans* would relish the opportunity to yell at him.

Co-writing with Dan Shaughnessy. I wonder how long (measured in nanoseconds) it took CHB to call Francona offering his help.

The Italians (lots of them are Yankees fans) did have a cozy relationship with the Nazis, so I guess this all makes sense.

Root for the Cubs, your expectations will be so low that you'll actually enjoy it when they do something good

Also I'm a Mets fan.
