Killer Cars: I'm surprisingly eager to watch the LA/VAN later on. I'll be surprised if it takes Vancouver more than 5 games to win the thing, but you'd think Quick has at least one "stands on head, stops 59 of 60 shots" game in him.

That's what everyone said last year before Quick gave the Sharks a mighty scare. And they have a marginally better team this year. Vancouver has had problems in the past with some of these early round series, particularly Bobby Lou. More concerning is the relatively quiet season Kesler had combined with the prospect of no Daniel Sedin in the first round. Top that all off with their LONG season last year followed by this year's 82 game grind...

...Vancouver is skilled and deep, but they have an uphill battle that starts tonight.

Look, I'm not saying the Blues are a bad team. They aren't. They're a young team that are very green when it comes to the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Sharks are proven (to a degree). They know that they have to elevate their game as soon as the puck drops in Game 1. St. Louis doesn't have that exposure yet. Hitch is a great coach, but he cannot prepare them for what they're going to face. Plus with their high seed, they have the expectations of a playoff starved STL to open in front of...that usually yields some stick squeezing and the pressure can be stifling. Finally, there is the goaltending issue. Is the net Halak's? For how long? What happens if/when he has an off night. How often have you seen a goalie tandem make the SCF in the post-lockout era?

I think the Sharks come in with an axe to grind after an underacheiving season and try and take it to the Blues. And I think they will do it.
