Someone on Fark, I think, referred to sex with a Japanese girl as "Banging the dolphin squeaks out of them."

The fairy rings beckon and lead them off into gentle slumber.

Fairy rings are actually one giant fungal organism. The Mushrooms sprouting in a ring are all part of the same organism.

Look, Bill Nye, say what you want, it won't save you from the faeries.

Tricky Chicken: aagrajag: Tricky Chicken: My wife (japanese) was singing a soft japanese lullabye to our son. It was pleasant and I asked her what it meant. The basic story line was about a family that did not have enough food and the mother wat walking one of the children out into the woods. The refrain was from the childs point of view asking the mother not to abandon it saying please don't go.

They sing this to children. I can understand growing up with a 'suicide is always an option' attitude.

Oh, come on. Most Western fairy tales are pretty horrific before they get Disneyfied. Emotionally damaging children is a long and storied tradition.

I guess it's not much worse than making a child pray that if they die before they wake that the lord should come and take their soul.

Hey kid, there is a chance you're going to die tonight in your sleep! Sweet dreams.

If I die before I wake I'll haunt my sister and make her stank!

When I visited Japan we climbed Mt. Fuji with my friend and his brother in law. We drove through this forest on our way to the climb and we passed a car parked on the side of the road. The BIL told us that the owner of the car was probably not coming back if it wasn't just a couple getting their freak on. He said people wander into the woods to die all the time either because they lost their job, or didn't get hired, or felt like they had disgraced their family or something. It's eerie seeing what he was talking about.

Love the Japanese. Even when committing suicide they are very polite and respectful of other people. They just go off and die. None of this wasting my time with hanging off a bridge/overpass/building.

Since this is in Japan, I'm surprised that they have not tried to commercialize this. Maybe a formal suicide theme park with vending machines for needed supplies or something.

Then never ever ever watch 'Graveyard of the Fireflies'. The happiest part of it is the beginning when you meet the ghost of a kid that starved to death.
