Flashmobs are so 2007. These days it's all about Zorroing.

Oh man, allergies are the worst this year, aren't they?

Yeah, I bawled like a schoolgirl looking at her first cock.

I saw this earlier. Groups of people can either be awesome, or horrifying. Glad to see another example of awesome.

Absolutely brilliant :)

I'm an excellent carny,

How long to the inevitable "where is he now" tragic follow-up?

2012-04-11 12:50:48 AM
It's making the FB rounds pretty hard, and yes, it's DAMNED awesome! Nice find, subby.

Ghastly: Yeah, I bawled like a schoolgirl looking at her first cock.

Goddamnit i hate you. I just need you to know that right now. Ghastly -- i hate you soooo much. You make me hate human beings in general just by being one of them. I hate you almost as much as i hate Boing Boing and its terrible endless flow of hipsterism and the constant parade of blowjobs for anything that seems vaguely nerdy.

Hate isn't a strong enough word.

Ghastly: Yeah, I bawled like a schoolgirl looking at her first cock.

That description is all kinds of awesome and shock :D

Reddit, Pshaw. I remember when FARK was the front page of the internet.

The way that you projected that statement into my imagination should be patented. Iconic

They should show that kid Minecraft.

Why wouldn't you want to watch the video?
The kid demonstrates and talks about his creations.
He's a smart little kid......and props to his dad for letting him do that...
(my dad would have been screaming about wasting supplies.......)

You should watch the video, it's even well made.

Gottta say, that was pretty cool.

I dunno, man, some of those games look pretty dodgy. But that Fun Pass is a friggin' awesome value. 500 plays for $2? You can't afford not to play!

2012-04-11 06:42:42 AM
Should have had Fitri Cerado singing at the grand opening.

this thing blew up big time yesterday, possibly the most viral thing I've seen in a long time. If you go to the website, there's a donation button to put the kid through engineering school. Last time I checked, they raised $63k out of $100k:

Why on God's purple earth would you want her to do that? If the girl can sing, which is highly debatable, why the fark do you want to shill her out to become the same piece of filipino engineering trash her father became? Good god man, know where (debatable) talent lies, and where to appropriately pimp it.

/You has neither.

Luminiferous Aether:
Wrong thread, Glow-in-the-dark catheter, but thanks for playing.
Besides, mu sister cut a hole in a cardboard box, crawled inside and raised enough money for college.

2012-04-11 08:45:19 AM
That made my day.

If this was in France, Remi Gillard would have swooped in, trashed his arcade, laughed in his face, then farted on the kid... and still some Farkers would defend it as being funny.

Faith in humanity somewhat restored.

Not much, but some.

I was intrigued by the theme song someone wrote for him, so I watched through the credits to find out who it was. Some chick named Juli Crockett, who's the lead singer of an alt-country band named the Evangenitals.

Little things made me smile all the way through like Shakey's Pizza and thanking Reddit, which even Comedy Central didn't have the class to do. For me, it wasn't just the crafting of the games, lots of kids can work some neat stuff out of things if given time and space. It was the business end of it. The tickets, the passes, the calculator mathed coded passes, the sweeping of the store and sidewalk, the stocking of toys, his attention to the business after the games were made. Barring something really odd, even without the cool money for engineering school, this kid is going somewhere.

Some people are at work and can't watch videos.
Other people have short attention spans and don't want --- OH LOOK IT'S SHINY!!!!!

The film maker didn't have to insert himself into the story that prominently. Otherwise I thought it was a fine short film. The kid was genuine and had a very complete, nerdy hobby. That we could all be able to get that deep into something. . .
