Meh. Slightly less insane than ESPN's. I'll stick to the one I posted in -that- thread and treat this one as a general gameday thread.

Austin Jackson just tied it up in the 7th with a solo shot.

2-2 Rays-Tigers

20 is about right for the Indians. The starting pitching has been fantastic but we can't string together hits to save our lives. We're gonna have a lot of hard-luck losing pitchers if our hitting keeps going at the rate it has.

2012-04-10 03:02:50 PM
Well it appears the Rockies are who I thought they were. Another team that can probably hit very well, while being a complete and utter fail in the defense and pitching depts. At least all my tickets to the games are free...

2012-04-10 03:03:01 PM
I don't know who kidnapped Zito and replaced him with the dude who pitched last night...

... but the ransom for the return of the original sure as shiat is -not- going to be paid!

My Phillies are still at #10? The way we're playing, shouldn't even be in the teens, let alone the top ten.

The Braves should be 60th.

What a sad sack of heartless losers in that batting order.

Could someone please tell the Braves that they already missed the playoffs this past October and can stop this ridiculous slide? Could Fredi please start making complimentary statements about Fidel Castro? FOR THE LOVE OF GOD MAKE IT STOP.

Now a power rankings thread after FOUR games out of 162! lol

2012-04-10 03:06:54 PM
Royals pitching, save the bullpen implosion in the first game, has been good. They're going to hit, if they get any pitching at all they could make a run at it.

Not the World Series, or even the division, but at least being respectable.

2012-04-10 03:08:15 PM
Now I am as realistic as a Mets fan can possibly be (which isn't very realistic) but how the hell are the 4-0 Mets ranked below the 0-4 Braves especially considering that 3 of those 4 Braves losses came at the hands of my favorite squadron?

They have the Braves smashed with that average. Braves average = .165 (tied with the Twins)

Uggla is the Derek Lowe of the Offense for the Braves.

That is pretty dumb, but I wouldn't worry about it. I'm sure that won't last long.

Just saying, lol, kinda silly. Especially when they redlit an NHL pre-playoffs power rankings list yesterday that actually has a whole season behind it - and hockey's actually a popular thing here, so.

What is the difference? Power rankings are never relevant. The standings matter, not network power rankings?

Why are there pre season college football polls when no one has even played a game?

To generate discussion and make sure the right conferences are loading the top before the season starts.

By taking advantage of an off day this week, Ubaldo Jimenez won't have to miss his turn in the rotation by dropping his suspension appeal immediately after Saturday's dominant performance.

THIS IS NOT HOW SUSPENSIONS ARE SUPPOSED TO WORK

OK, I know the White Sox will probably suck this year. But come on - they are not #25.

The team has decent pitching and has a respectable line-up. They also get to play the Twins a lot this year and should come close to a split with the Tribe and Royals in those respective series. The Tigers should handle all of these teams, but the Sox should have around a .500 division record. I expect that trend to carry throughout and expect them to be within +/-5 games of .500 at the end of the season.

That should put them at about 15/16 - as it is right now based on record they should fall there anyway (you know, where they have the Red Sox)

Mmhmm, well. Like others have pointed out, might as well have a gamenight thread.

There are different shades of irrelevance, haha. There's "irrelevant" and there's "massively irrelevant."

I am going to enjoy while I can the fleeting satisfaction of Adam LaRoche having the third best batting average in the majors.

Jays...ugh....we need a closer before we should be ranked in the top ten. Last night was gawd awful.

Miggy double followed by a Fielder single leads to a 3-2 Tigers lead in the 8th

Wow, there are teams BELOW the Padres? How is that even possible? A little league team with a quadriplegic pitcher could beat them.

A team consisting of a lawn gnome, a traffic cone, a JUGS machine and a set of Matryoshka dolls could beat the Twins.

/WTF, it's SNOWING in Comerica!

Just when I thought Power Rankings couldn't be more meaningless, we get this one before teams have even gone through their starting rotation.

For a pitcher who pitches every five games, a five game suspension never does anything but push that next start back a game. He will likely still have the same number of starts he would have otherwise.

I don't think he should have been suspended but they need to do min 10 games for starting pitchers.

I find it funny that the people making the biggest huff about power rankings so early are Yankee fans.

You guys are right. They don't matter...and guess what...after 162 games power rankings don't matter either.

I bet there would be far less.."blah blah after so few games" had the Yankees started off well.

srhp29: Uggla is the Derek Lowe of the Offense for the Braves.

Whatever. Derek Lowe is responsible for more runs than Uggla could ever dream of.

I know that the company line from the Braves this offseason was not to worry about the team not making any changes after the September meltdown. But, I was concerned about it this offseason. I was a little more concerned about it after the Braves were swept by the Mets last weekend. And while it's only four games in, after the tee-ball-esque performance last night (i.e., more errors than runs scored), I am already starting to hover over the panic button.

Maybe the Marlins really were right about Freddie Gonzales.

Sac fly for Peralta drives in Fielder.. 4-2 Tigers, 8th.. snow has let up

srhp29: they need to do min 10 games for starting pitchers.

Agreed.

When you only play every 5th game and there's a day off about every week or so, a 5 game suspension for a starter is nothing. At most a day's delay in the rotation. Even the bullpen guys theoretically lose work if they're suspended for a few days.

Now, I do think being out for 5 starts is a bit much; that's a much more significant piece of their season than for a regular position player. So I could get behind a 10 day (2 start) suspension for that position.

My takeaway:

Holy fark, Kerry Wood is still pitching?

Laird looper into shallow center scores Thomas, 5-2

Let's go padres!! I'll consider this season a success if we can stay out of last place!

Whatever, suns out I'm heading back to the beach. Mmm margaritas on the beach

I was pretty unimpressed with the uninspired lack of an attempt to make that line up better. It is obvious management has far too much faith in the pitching staff being able to throw gems where the othter team ends up with negative runs all season.

I could see this being a 100 loss team. Definitely having trouble seeing them as anything better than a 4th place team in the NL East.

But they should only lose the salary for two of the ten games in my scenario.

Perhaps, but I have to give credit to my brethren and say we'd be sprinkling "4 games, now 5 games thread!" in there somewhere amid the trashtalking. At least I would be, anyway, lol.
