Insane republicans operating well outside the bounds of reality. Non-story.

2012-04-10 02:15:04 PM
That guy must have missed it when the Indiana guy tried it. His own party leader bought Girl Scout cookies for everyone in the House.

He represents Palin's hometown. So, this should come as no big surprise.

It's time to erase Wasilla. Prepare the choppers.

What is his position on Glenn Beck? Because there are rumors going around the internet about an incident in 1990.

2012-04-10 02:19:12 PM
The FFS tag, for when 'stupid' and 'asinine' just aint getting it done.

When did Republicans become mortally afraid of Girl Guides?

Were they all beaten as kids by their parents using a pillowcase filled with Thin Mints?

Cos their motto "Be Prepared" makes too much sense and would hurt them in the BC debate?

S'rsly, wtf?

Because they realized that girls grow up to be women, and that if they start oppressing them at a young age, by the time they're older they won't have as much fight left in them.

Girl Scouts: No involvement with Planned Parenthood

2012-04-10 02:23:12 PM
Last week, the Alaska legislature was set to take up and pass a presumably non-controversial resolution honoring the Girl Scouts for its 100 years of service. But Rep. Wes Keller (R-Wasilla), vice chairman of the House State Affairs Committee, refused to give his assent.
Interrogating the bill's sponsor, Sen. Bettye Davis (D-Anchorage), Keller demanded to know why girls were scouting in the first place. Keller wondered, "Frankly, I haven't seen much need for orienteering in the kitchen. Exactly what skills is this organization allegedly teaching young girls that will help them in their designated roles of bearing and raising children? I just wondered if you want to make a statement on that."

The Culture Wars are now in the phase where the rightwing starts eating itself. Kinda like the Bolsheviks in the 1920s.

I don't know, but as Putin rears his head and comes into the air space of the United States of America, where- where do they go? It's Alaska. It's just right over the border.

The awesome thing is, about 10 years ago GSUSA reoriented their focus to getting girls interested in STEM subjects. No more "learn how to cook!" and "Learn how to sew!" crap. They have tons of badges and activities focused on science, math, engineering, and whatnot. Hell, I just heard about a "make a video game" badge. How awesome is that?

just what we need. More Americans who aren't good at math and science. We're already falling behind when we have mostly guys doing that stuff, but adding women to the mix? RIP USA

Even more offensive, he started by attacking the young intern. The sponsor of the bill is the black woman off-camera.
