socalnewwaver: Stimied in a Rut: fark I hate Wigan

why, what did wigan ever do to you? ;-)

Yeah up until today United fans loved Wigan because it was an easy 6 points

WE ARE ALL WIGAN FANS TODAY

(And that probably doubles the fan base - wow sick burn!)

Brosef13: 689908: Congratulations Wigan. Thoroughly deserved.

Shameful shiat throughout from United.

Whatever happened to wingers taking on their full-backs and falling over in the box crossing the ball?

FTFY

I was thinking more of Valencia to be honest (since he isn't very good at anything else), but fair enough.

the true burn is that you're all wigan fans today 'cause they beat United...if they would have lost, you wouldn't even thought twice about them....and how do you think that makes them feel?

tsk tsk TKU

Valencia has probably been the best player on the squad this season, which isn't saying much since the squad has been pretty shiat overall.

They'll bounce back against Villa on the weekend...

Not true at all.

Uhhh...tell me in this season, any group of players in particular who has shined over the course of the season? With all the injuries, I'd say the squad's been pretty dismal compared to other seasons.

Carrick, Evans, Valencia, Rio and Rooney have had wonderful seasons.

Scholes has been magnificent. Rafael has been mostly brilliant whenever he's played. Smalling and Nani have been good whenever they've played.

Welbeck was having a great season, but his form has dropped considerably in recent games. De Gea is having a good season. Chicharito has been OK despite the coaching staff trying to turn him into something he isn't.

Cleverley and Anderson were good for the five minutes they played. Jones and Young started well but have been mostly meh for a while. Giggs has been mixed. Park has been awful.

I'd say it's the strength and quality of the squad - individually and collectively - that has us where we are today.

the 3 goal comeback against Chelsea turned their season around, including De Gea's.

expobill: the 3 goal comeback against Chelsea turned their season around, including De Gea's.

I sort of half agree. I think Lindegaard getting injured and De Gea knowing he was going to get a run of games without being dropped/rotated had more of an effect on the Spaniard. But the save from Mata's free kick at the end is one of the most important moments in United's and De Gea's seasons. No question about that.

689908: Carrick, Evans, Valencia, Rio and Rooney have had wonderful seasons.

They've all had their up and downs. Evans has been shocking at times, but he's really stepped up in Vidic's place. Rooney has been wonderful at times, apart from Valencia, he's been pretty good over the course of the year.

689908: Scholes has been magnificent. Rafael has been mostly brilliant whenever he's played. Smalling and Nani have been good whenever they've played.

Scholes has been brilliant since he's been back, agreed. Rafael has still showed his immaturity, but he's getting better. Smalling has been injured a lot, his on-pitch skills are improving, but he could be better. Nani just gives the ball away too easily.

689908: Welbeck was having a great season, but his form has dropped considerably in recent games. De Gea is having a good season. Chicharito has been OK despite the coaching staff trying to turn him into something he isn't.

Welbeck is fantastic, love the kid, he'll only get better, but Chicharito is useless. He has no flow with the rest of the team on the pitch. He's shown flashes of good finishing at times, but overall, he's completely useless.

689908: Cleverley and Anderson were good for the five minutes they played. Jones and Young started well but have been mostly meh for a while. Giggs has been mixed. Park has been awful.

Cleverley and Anderson have been injured (which goes back to my original point), Giggs has been inconsistent, along with Jones and Young.

Basically, they could all be playing better. They're certainly not playing to their potential, but they've been playing good enough.

The player that has most surprised me is De Gea...He has been incredible. He is the reason we're top of the league right now.

Which is because they're being asked to play a slow, sideways, possession-based game that doesn't play to our strengths.

No problem. I quite liked how neat and tidy it looked when it was finished. I'm going to go now.

so frenchie was given his marching orders (new window), and kenny has the backing of the board. i guess that means he's next. or not. but at least it looks like he's still got money to spend this summer. i thought for sure the purse strings would be tightened after this season's floptacular displays.

Although none of the signings have done...anything. The turning point of the season was when we lost Lucas. We never attacked the same after his departure and Liverpool always look lost without a strong defensive midfielder. Adam and Spearing don't free up the two attacking midfielder or the winger or strikers enough to consistently get forward. Also, play Maxi more.

i thought i had pretty much covered that with "floptacular displays", although i would beg to differ when it comes to enrique and bellamy.

Oddly enough, the cheapest ones. Bellamy was free and Enrique was relatively cheap. Lesson learned?

We won't let you forget.

But have a good day at work tomorrow. At least as good as it can be through the fog of a hangover.

From manutd.com (new window)

The Player of the Year voting is already generating plenty of debate - not only amongst the wider footballing public but also in the office! My call is Michael Carrick, a decision Nick, Daniel James and Mark Froggatt all agree with but Paul Davies has opted for Antonio Valencia while Steve Bartram nominated Jonny Evans. There's been plenty of chat about the claims of Paul Scholes and Wayne Rooney as well and it's a wide open race so look out for the live show on MUTV on Monday 14 May when all will be revealed. (AM)

Not from manutd.com: Revealing, damning stat from @TonyBarretTimes in paper. No LFC player has made more tackles this season than Lucas, who's been out since Nov (new window)

I remember the days when I used to post when I was still pissed from the pub...reading those posts the next day were usually regrettable, often hilarious though.

Everyone does it. I got drunk during the USA vs. Venezuela game and said nice things about Ricardo Clark.
